hi there

this is my 6th trip to amsterdam, yet my first with my girlfriend and her first at all,

she is happy to come coffeeshop crawling with me, however just wondering what sights, trips you would all advise to see as well,

i have seen a lot on my trips but have only ever had myself to think about lol,

amsterdam has the most wonderful museums and some of the best in the museum ... they also cater for almost any interest you can think of ...

my suggestion is to work out with your girlfriend her top three interests in the whole world ... and i bet you can find a museum or other place which will satisfy and entertain for each one

then you will be seen as thoughtful and supportive ... and you can finish up in another coffeeshop to talk about your day

you could also try the "nine streets" shopping area, but you better take lots of euros for that ...

thanks, im familar with the Iamsterdam site, what a godsend, ill take any ideas into consideration, she has already spotted the bags and purses museum, god help me

we both cant wait to finally get some time away to chill out, without the children for a few days and after finally moving house, the first few tokes will be heaven sent on the 23rd august lol

and the 9 streets area, ill def be checking that out, with a medium sized wallet lol

As for things to do, my advice would be to check out the markets (Albert Cuyp & Dappermarkt are the 2 best I have found) & the quirky shops around De Pijp & Jordaan.If you've never been try Artis Zoo, the Tropen if you insist on museums, Concertgebouw if pining for classical music, an Ajax game if visiting during football season, steak at Eetcafe Loetje if carnivorous, take a trip out of Centrum to another town for a day or 2, take a trip out of Centrum to check out some local cs's (with bud & menu pics to follow!) to report back on if nothing else.

do yourself a huge favor and go to the Van Gogh...it is worth your time & money
