Just wondering about from:
Rasta Baby + Double Reggae, Free Amsterdam

or infact any which are cool with reggae music, i don't use DReggae!

Like the music just don't enjoy the tourist vibe which comes with it.

i love reggae, i listen mainly to Dub and Ska at home (king tubby, scientist, augustus pablo). i really dont like vocal reggae, like bob marley and gregory isaccs and i hate ragga.

the wierd thing is, i have found that, theres very little decent reggae played in coffeeshops, when it does get played it quite often is very vocal and cheesy. occasionaly a quality dub cd will be put on somewhere, but its totally random. music always tends to be selected by whoever is working at the time.

the reggae themed coffeeshops, play the sort of reggae i dont like, too much singing, and cheesy sounds. rasta baby though, seems to play a lot of Ragga, which is just awfull (imo). its too aggressive and loud, and well, crap really. i have a memory of being in rasta baby, and they played a ragga mix cd, which was skipping all over. and the staff just left it.... so so irritating, i cant stand skipping cd's, let alone skipping ragga cd's.

its antisocial, but an Ipod is the only way to guarantee decent music.

well, its all relative to what you like. some places play pink floyd and what not, which some people like, and some places play hip hop etc. barneys, and rokerij play great chill out, very very chilled out, but many places just seem to play what ever the staff fancy off their ipods or cds.

Bushdoctor in the RLD played some decent reggae when I passed there on my last visit on a few occasions.

Basjoe often plays it as James (the owner) is in a band. He's called 'Dread King James' because his dreads go to the floor. Very cool guy and place, mon - enjoy.

music is all about personall taste, i understand. personally, reggae has the most amazing rythm to it. that wonderfull head nod music, which when louder, just makes me wanna 'head nod' my whole body

personal taste is that vocals on reaggae detract from the drums and bass. the human voice should be used as an instrument to enhance the music, the music should not be a backing track to singing.

i love blips, and beeps, and reverb, and woooshes, and echoes, and huge simple bass riffs. i dont like choruses! ha ha
