btw...i went to Christiania in '98 and had a blast! it reminded me of Haight Street meets Amsterdam meets the Renaissance Faire...

Since I live not too far away the place is quite wellknown, actually it's really strange that I haven't been there yet. I imagine things have changed since 1998 though. Cool that you've been there!

I visited last week and I was quite blown away by the place to be honest!

Starting with the goods... firstly I passed a crescent of stalls selling smoking paraphernalia. Wood fires in abundance, the place wasn't busy but it had an xmas market feel about it.

Next, the hash stalls came into view and I was immediately struck by the quantity on view. With no 500g limit, the tables looked really well stocked with large blocks of hash and open sacks of weed. far more hash on offer than weed but some of the first stalls on the right had 6 or 8 strains to choose from. I tried the Orange Haze (around 10€ p/g), which had a definite tangerine taste in my iolite vaporizer and a strong clear high. The bag looked just on the gram but when I went back to a neighbor stall for a strong Indica the bag was much more full - well over a gram. He said it was his best at that time - Thai Tanic (13-14€ p/g). This stuff was a lovely fresh green colour and it had the kind of smell that makes you want to walk around with the open bag taped to your nose!

I spent the rest of the trip vaping a delicious cocktail from the two.

Other highlights were many, including Cafe Moonfisher, a super chilled grand cafe hippy style, with a fine mix of gender and ages including, at one point, a few snow suited toddlers running around beneath the hash clouds! I also liked looking around the large building materials warehouse that stocked re-claimed timber as well as new wood and countless other items. Walking around some of the amazing houses on the lake was nice, really felt like being in the countryside. In fact some locals where telling me that the attractiveness of the real estate there is more of a problem to it's future than the soft drugs. Said there was pressure on for them to build more housing on the land.

I seriously liked the private village feel about the place and the smoking aspect seemed more 'blended' with the scene than it does back here in Amsterdam. I'd love to see it in the Summer and I'll be making a detour to here whenever I'm in the area in future. 10/10

Much as the snowy weather there must be incredibly picturesque I think I'll leave it to the spring/summer for a trip.

so it happens to be the case the misses and i are planning a trip to copenhaven end of april to spend 3 or 4 days there !!!!!!!! i am really excited and will of course visit christiania .... i have a few qeustions :
i red somewhere online that taking pictures is a problem and not liked. does this count for the whole area or only the area where they sell the hasch and weed?
are there any restaurants in christiania ?
how is smoking in generell viewed in copenhaven as we wont be hanging out there all day..... at the hotel if its a smoking room for exsample?
if any of you are around for a toke and talk while we are there let me know!

NO PHOTOS in pusherstreet. The pushers dont like it. Ive seen a few tourists loose their cameras lately. Just put it away and stay out of troubles. Rest of the area no problem

i red two trip reports on the channels forum regarding visiting christiania from diffrent angles one of them are at night i dunno if i am allowed to post links to others forums in here so i wont but if u are a channels member just go to the trip report sector and there are two reports look for the one from viking in particular i hope that helps....

incase u are not a member i can tell u from the post on channels that there seem to be watchouts where the netrance of the area is beeing watched and lightenend out and u may get a flashlight in youre face when u enter.....but besides that they didnt say its unsafe to go at night ...one thing that i thought is a little weird on the channels report maybe king can clear that up is that the bars mentioned where they let u smoke dont let u smoke inside anymore and even outside u get told politely that tourists arent welcome to smoke only to score and that the smoking friendly part is only for ppls who live there....

Just been back from my trip, one stopover was Copenhagen. What was expected to be a 1-2 days stay turned out to be a couple of days more luckywise.
As a hash lover myself I was pretty focussed on looking for high grade quality.
So wasn't that keen on trying some grass as I heard beforehand not to expect much. As it was!
Poor looking buds(leafy, stemly). Went for the better looking ones(trying and all that), G13 and Blue Cheese. First one smelled and burnt funny, weak buzz. Blue Cheese only vaguely smelled like it should so was the effect. All in all I would say it's better than most quality from the black market though but way overpriced.

Fortunately I was pointed to the right stalls for good hash by a local I met on my way to this place.
During my several visits I realised some stalls selling good quality for about 60dkr/g while the other half is selling very similar stuff for 120dkr/g and more! Latter had more strains on offer though(former mostly only two qualities). Friendly staff by the way(30 stalls by the way)!
Price range is from 50-130dkr/g for weed, 50-200dkr for traditional hash(ridiculous wide range of(e.g. 15)different grades of morcoccan hash)while ice-o-laters/butter go up to 600dkr/g as stated elsewhere here.
Bit of a let down was the lack of outstanding hash. Don't get me wrong I purchased a lot of good qualities(almost all, e.g. had the best black hash in my life Nepal Pollen for about 150dkr/g)but its everywhere the same most people go for inexpensive smoke on a regular base(so no one can blame them)so - I'm willing to pay for quality - its as hard as elsewhere to find standouts.
Let's say it that way: best hash there is sold for 9-10 euro in your average dutch coffeeshop.

Nevertheless I had a great time there and am very greateful. Please excuse my ignorance regarding rest of beautiful Copenhagen or Christiania as I was most of the time off my face and had things to do but all you vegans/vegetarians/everyone else go out and check http://www.chilimili.dk for a decent place to eat! I've been curious about Christiania for some time... thanks for the writeup... good to know it's really just about the hashes... still... if there's ever an opportunity to go here, I think I'll take it... always interested in new places to see and enjoy.

@badbone u live there ?? mybe i gonna go to there becoz the weed and the hash is it better stronger over there or here better thus dunno staying in amsterdam is the best weed ever here doh
