Comes from a BBC show which was only broadcast in Scotland called Chewin The Fat. Basically was a sketch show made by Scots for Scots.

The show has since finished as a series but still runs special episodes on Hogmanay (New Years Eve) and it generated a spin off series, called Still Game, based on one of the popular sketches from the show.

Still Game also started out as a Scotland only show but I understand that the most recent series of episodes was also broadcast in England.

I bet you poms loved that

You wouldn't have seen Chewin The Fat (the sketch show) before unless you knew someone (Scottish) who had it on DVD and they had let you watch it. Chewin The Fat was only ever shown on BBC Scotland.

The most recent series (which was the fourth in all) was broadcast between July and August 2005 and I think it went out round about 2130 or 2230 on a Friday night.

The show featured just about all of the actors/actresses who had appeared at some point in the sketch show, with the exception of Karen Dunbar who went on to her own sketch show instead.

Chewin the Fat was by far the best of the three shows in my opinion.
