Marco Schuffelen has built a great website featuring Dutch language basics. He has sound files, which are really good for hearing how the words are supposed to sound.
Check it out:

If you like what you see (and hear) you can purchase materials from him.
Tot ziens,

Thanks for the link. I don't know how many times I have mispronounced words like Spui for instance. Is it spooey or shpow?

I've come to the conclusion that the only way I'll ever be fluent in dutch is to move there.
.....not the Dam though.....would need to move to a more rural part I think!

Just been to Amsterdam and loved it... what a great city

To the question, I have started learning on
http://www.easylanguageexchange.com/ meeting lots of native speakers on there, they are also providing lots of useful information as I have decided that I want to live in this city now!!
Any other useful sites that you know of, please do let me know

I agree with you... It's almost impossible for a buitenlander to learn Dutch in Amster...you just don't get the opportunities to practice enough unless you're in a completely Dutch environment for a significant amount of time.

Thanks for sharing the link. It’s really very helpful to me. If someone wants to live in beautiful cities of the Netherlands they must have to learn the Dutch language.
