what would you do for 30hrs in Amsterdam

Post by steven »

Hi folks

I have been to Amsterdam quite a few times and have always done the CS's around Liedsplien area, this is because there are so many within a short walk of each other.

But this time I plan to try lots of others in the 30hrs I will have, so if you had 30hrs for a short CS crawl where would you go?

Would you venture across the city from CS to CS or would you choose a particular area and focus on the CS's in that area?

Steven

I couldn't think of a worse way to start the day ha ha ha

You've got all day, I think you would be hard pressed to spend from 9.30am till midnight just on haarlemersrraat. I like to cover most of the city in a day. Haa'straat, rld, jordaan, leidse & rembrandts plains, de pijp, etc. It's a lot of walking and trams but I love it. Then having checked everywhere out, you can stick to your favourite area on the next day.

Yea, i like to take in as much of the city as poss on the first day. i start at Picasso or popeye, get wrecked, get out my ACD map and pick my next coffeeshop. On my last few trips most of my time has been spent up and down the Herengracht and Prinsengracht. It is so chilled and is a world away from the RLD, flashing lights etc.

In 30 hrs u could see loads, if u want to see a lot of the city have a vague plan of where u want to go and try to stick to it.

Popeye, Basjoe, amnesia, paradox, tertulia, bluebird, mellow yellow, katsu. that would be my tour of the city,i would prob get as far as Bsjoe and have a whitey

I would do at least one non-coffeeshop thing....a cool place is the Van Loon house (a house of one of the founding families of the dutch east india company. Its on Keizersgracht 672. There is a cool photography museum on the other side of the same canal/block callled FOAM.

vondelpark is always a good start to the morning if its sunny, stop by a CS on the way of course, grab some drinks from a shop and chill there for a couple of hours.
