advise on the best way to dry ur weed.

hi all just wondering whats the best way to dry ur weed i usually hang them for a week then put it into a propagator with paper for 2-3 days then put it into a tub cheers

When I first started to grow, I did the typical drying method - cut the branches and cola from the main stalk and hung them in an environmentally controlled room, ie... light, temp, and humidity, for a period between 7-10 days.

My preferred method is to cut all bud clusters from the plant, place them on wired racks, and let them dry usually for 4-6 days. I noticed that the buds dry quicker when removed from the stalks, nothing remarkable but something to note.

Note, do not let the buds dry out completely or you will have problems when curing, ie.... over-dried bud, DUST. If this happens, just place a small sliver of orange peel into the jar. The moisture from the rind will reconstitute the bud, hopefully, and you can continue to cure. Don't forget to remove to rind.

ron..im a fan, but,never put any peels or anything like that in yer bag, causes mold and unwanted goo spots or worse,a crappy taste if ya wanna get back a bit of moister,put it in a open plastic bag and put it in the crisper section of yer frigerator...itll give ya just what the bonglord ordered in a night....i hang for 4 days, then it gets a paperbag for a day ,then it gets smoked or put in a container for holding...just my 2 cents...enjoy what yer dryin

I dry mine same as usb ,, the paper bag will make the buds into nice nugget balls ... I sometimes just lay the buds on newspaper for couple of days ,, and turn them every few hours then put in jars when outside of bud feels dry .. most of the good weed grown tastes beautiful right off the plant (dry of course) no "curing" needed ,, just drying.. and storing properly in jars ...

If inner stems are not snapping, can I still cure? Most common method I'm finding is:

"open jar for 10 minutes to let moisture out, then store in dark & cool place. Repeat every 24 hours."

So amazed VK is this good, and would love for it to get better! Curious about the curing because I'm starting to think the shit is out of this world! 1g a week might be all I can handle!

Probably one of the best methods to dry your gear is as USBL stated. I've never tried the fridge/paper sack drying method although in my research I've found this method to be the second most popular, next to drying on the vine.
My opinion is to wait until branches snap cleanly. As noted, it seems to me that cutting the bud off of the stems/branches/etc... allows the bud to dry somewhat faster since it doesn't absorb moisture from the stems/etc... If you place wet or very damp bud into glass you will have to CLOSELY monitor the bud for signs of mold. Better to dry properly than having to deal with mold later on.

Although USBL has a valid point about adding an orange peel to the jar (or anything for that matter), it's something that I did once when I over-dried the bud, and it worked. I placed a small sliver of orange peel in each jar for a few hours. When the buds felt slightly moist and spongy, I removed the peel.
As with anything and everything, do whatever works best for you, and to each their own and all that.

That's the answer im looking for Ron. The buds are dry enough to smoke. Maybe im just used to over dried buds, but if the VK is going to cure more I wanna do it correctly.

Uncle Ron has some really good advice, but that is total guesswork. Why not read the thread I posted above... Screw this up, and your buds turn to shit you know...

Curing is about getting your buds to the proper moisture level, and then keeping them there...the link I posted makes it foolproof...

I also want to say that you don't want to spend months growing something to fuck around with the cure, especially if it's your first time...Many grows that went well turn to shit during the drying/curing phase.

Why not throw a marijuana leaf in there? It will have a bit of moisture to give up...I tried this on a jar I left open for 2 days (was smoking and forgot to seal it up) and it helped...

You could also just get the humidity level in the jars right the first time...I might have posted a link about that?

Ref. putting an orange slice in a container - it is something that I observed someone do years ago, so I gave it a try with successful results. No doubt that any moist material will work, the idea is to introduce a small amount of moisture to the over-dried bud. I would suggest using caution with the type of material used, mainly because of odor. There is a likely possibility that the odor may transfer to the bud.
Many methods of drying and curing, choose what works best for you.

Zbeebs - the only proper way that I know of to regulate the humidity inside a jar (for the common man that is) is to open and seal the container. NO DESICCANTS!!! I interested in reading what you are on about.

I've had good luck with a fresh leaf in the jar, in a cool dark place, for about 12 hours. A small leaf won't be a mold magnet like an Orange peal, and it won't be in the jar that long!
