Brilliant ribs at about E15.
They also have the best bacon I;ve found in Amsterdam... the BLT is around E6-7
Guiness, Murphy's and Kilkenny on tap, along with a Pils... probably Jupiler.
good choice of whiskies, friendly Irish barstaff. Good mix of locals and tourists. Not the cheapest, but worth it.

This is something I've never understood. If I travel to Amsterdam why would I wanna hang out in an irish (or any other than dutch) bar? No disrespect, I love our local irish pub, just don't see no point going to one when not in home country or Ireland. Or maybe as a finn I just can't understand...

all about the ribs in dam!, had them twice at sports satellite cafe (pancake corner)
yum!!!
I wasn't talking about the products, I meant the atmosphere. That's a bit over kill cause dutch have some excellent beer and when you add imported beer from belgium and the UK you get one hell of a selection.
Dutch lager is pretty close to finnish lager, which is almost undrinkable so I hear you on that one.
And no, you don't have to eat white bread or something dutch every day, my post was about hanging out / spending time in places that resemble conditions back home, not about what you should eat. I'll propably eat burger bar and croissants every day when back in town in October.
Peace

Never said anything about malone's atmosphere. This was just discussion about restaurants and bars in general.Ash333 wrote:You're in a hole, stop digging.
Don't see no reason you should take this so personally, never insulted you. But sorry if I made you feel bad. I'm not here to argue or to look for hostility.

Basicly that's it. Not in any specific establishment but in similiar places one visits back home. Wasn't talking about you but tourists in general that are into this kind of travelling. Just not my cup of tea, that's all.atemate wrote:my post was about hanging out / spending time in places that resemble conditions back home
I'm not saying my way is the only way. People should do things they want themselves when on a vacation!
I'm not a native english speaker so I apologize for not making myself understood all times.

I can appreciate what you are saying, and I tend to agree.
For me though, I've spent a fair bit of time in Amsterdam, and I live in another of Europe's major multicultural cities, so I am used to a wide variety of food being on offer. Because of this, not going for stuff available at home doesnt really work for me, and not spending time anywhere that I could find a similar place to back home would leave me exclusively in coffeeshops.
I can get better Chinese food in London than in Amsterdam, but if I'm in Amsterdam and fancy some, I know where to go. I could go on...........
Anyway pal, I didn't mean to cause any upset, hope we can have a smoke one day and laugh about this.
