nytvd goes to Nes and signs the book!

Post by nytvd »

Got into the Dam last week on Friday.
Got off the train and walked to Amnesia to start the day.
Weather was lovely, in the sixties with a light wind, which was nice given the fact that the last two times here I was freezing my balls off (always colder when stoned, too...)

Walked into Amnesia and got some Sage & Sour, very nice smoke, not as strong of a kick in the head like some other Hazes...very pleasant.
Went well with some coffee and a Looza Melo (my new favorite Looza flavor)

The dealer Itay gave me some of his personal stash - some Shiva which I tried as well - great stone and flavor.
Speaking of Itay - he is leaving Amnesia after 3 years to work in a Thai place on Damrak. Sissy is not pleased as she realy loved him and there may be an opening to replace him...call fast.

After an hour or so in Amnesia I decided to enjoy the day and walked around for hours through the crowded pedestrian streets, the empty canals and all over the place - just love walking in the Dam...the sights, the people, hard to beat for passing a few hours.

Then it was time to check out another CS that has been on my "to do" list - Nes Cafe. What can I say - I agree with everything good that has been said about this place - a top notch place with top notch gear and people. Even the bathroom is spacious and modern....

Fortunately I met DC who is a very cool guy. He broke off the tip of the best looking Pot of Gold bud which I proceeded to smoke expeditiously...by the way - all of the buds in all of the containers looked prime...incredible smoke to choose from.

DC and I chatted for a while and he introduced me to Dr Gonzo who came over and said hi. Dr Gonzo is also a cool guy (at least as a first impression) and he was there with his wife. After the pot of gold I left the baggy of Shiva and asked DC to give it to anyone he sees fit , preferably an ACD member.... :D

Also - Of course I am now a part of "The Book" my scrawlings for all to see...

Some more walking and then I found myself in front of Lost in Amsterdam...had heard of this place so decided to check it out. Not my cup of tea but did sit in the front and smoked some more Hindu Kush and saw the world go by. Speaking of bathrooms - this one is so tiny you have to step in the bowl with one of your feet just to close the door!

At that point my plan was to go to the train station and buy a ticket to Germany for next week and then go to Central CS for a last smoke before my flight onward to the business part of my trip...

This turned out to be the sour point of the day...in what seemed like a time travel to a bread queue in 1960's Russia I wasted almost an hour buying a train ticket for a two hour ride into Germany as this was an "international" destination - one that has to be purchased in the upstairs office...the whole ticket buying process in Holland still leaves a lot to be desired...what's up with those ticket machines that don't recognize most cards too....

oh well. still an awesome day with great weather and quality smoke!

5 days later and here I am in the Dam again...a quick stop at Amnesia for some NYCD ...very strong - the kick in the head kind of Haze!

After an hour back to Centraal Station for the train to Germany, it is June 9th and the train is packed with football fans going in to Germany.

I meet with my clients and get back on the train to the Dam but the train is delayed an hour and by the time I get back it is 10PM and I am wiped but still get a shower in the Hotel and walk over to Nes. DC was not there by that time but the other guys there were also cool - got some more pot o'gold and some Ketama and proceeded to get totally smashed with weed, hash and Gulpener (now that is some tasty beer!)

After an hour or so of that i had to go to sleep and had the best night's sleep of the whole week.

Next morning got up, had some breakfast, smoked the last of the NYCD and went to HGF for my now customary two slices of cake but HGF had opening problems that morning...no cakes for me!

Lucky for me I had my ACD map with me and used it to find Abraxas.
Now this is a great CS and I am glad I found it - would definitely go back to hang out next time. Had a wonderful choco-hasj shake and purchased 3 bon-bons which i ate on the way to Schipol.

My plane took off at 13:30 local time.
I took off about twenty minutes before that in my seat on the jet...and boy did I take off! That shake and bob-bon combination did the trick and I was wasted for most of the flight.

So that's that, another great trip and I did bring some souvenirs this time...

Thanks Res, and now some pics -

This is one of one of my favorite spots - the bridge over the Singel right from Grey Area (Oude Lilliestraat I think)

And here is a nice pic of Gray Area

This is what Amnesia looks like on a sunny day -

This is from the flower market...just the Geranium section!
(yes, I am into gardening...)

And this I call -

A Gulpener coaster with a tasty lump of Brown Hash.

Ah, that lump of brown hash sure looks tasty and I also sampled a fair few large Gulpeners.

So many memories.

Thanks for the reminders.

When I was there in May we stayed in an apartment directly across the canal from Amnesia and just around the corner from Grey Area. Ahhhhh close my eyes and bring back fond memories. Thanks for that I needed it

I look at those pictures and I find the place interesting, different... odd, magnetising me... drawing my inquisitive mind to go and see more of it... I love it.

A great report nytvd and the pictures are good also - the first one is a great spot in Amsterdam that has a good view down the canal, but that picture also reminds me how steep some of the bridges are...no wonder I usually feel sore in the legs the day after arrival day with all the walking I end up doing.

Thanks for sharing!

The only thing steep in that picture is the building that's leaning over. =P

I live in a very hilly city. It's up and down at least 5 hills to get anywhere.
