Auto Strain V Reg Strain !!

Post by Cisco »

Ok so i posted this at the end of the AF thread but since no discussion started i thought i would make a new thread !

Ok so AFs have their haters , but in reality i think if you know what your doing then you should get good results whatever you grow ! well with good genetics anyway !

case in point , i usually start a plant on my windowsill each year , more to study growth , experiment with topping , pruning etc this was before i had access to a grow set up , i did flower one last year and got about two spliffs !!!! ha ha that tasted of nothing and got no buzz , but i was not expecting much and done it to see if it would happen .

So done the same this year with a couple of plants , then half way through got access to a set up , happy days i had a wee stunted plant i was gonna chuck but decided to try flower it !? now the midget is stinking !! smells stronger than the full size version !! its been nuted to nuked , over trimmed , stunted in a pot the works........Also the Auto has not had the best treatment alot of growers suggest 20/4 light cycle for Autos , this has only been under 12/12

So i suppose my point is ; if you have the knowledge and good genetics then WHATEVER you grow , you should get good returns ! on wi the pics

And now my petrol  smelling funky wee bud , prob get 3G dry ? from the whole plant

Cisco, I'm no Charlie Dimmock or anything, but my very limited knowledge tells me that for all your 'cruelty' that is one mighty fine looking plant :P

well, they look... cute :D bonzai moms lol. The first pic, the one on the left is the Auto Flower variety and the one on the right is a the regular? The regular looks eeeny teeny tiny. How long did you veg the regular one for?

Also, 3g dried bud weight of a plant is worrying tbh. Now, I've never done auto flower before but Boner has, I'm pretty sure bigger yields can be managed. However, with a lil practice, you should manage better yields.

Nice pics btw :) jst keep on, keeping on, :)

The 3G will be from the reg strain , it was veged for months !!! thats my point i did not/do not have a clue ! however im learning loads more every day by reading reading and reading some more and some hands on gardening !!

It got stunted due to tiny pot size etc as i say it was a total experiment

hey, at least you got a bit of a smoke man. My first 2 grows (going back 8 years or so) were total fuck ups. I didn't have the slightest clue what I was doing, and wasted serious money on seeds back then. Didn't even end up with a joint lol...

You're in the right place mate, you get stuck, plenty of us to give advice. Youy can only get better at this game, I'm looking forward to seeing pics of your bnext grow - there'll be a marked improvement, i'm sure. :)

EDIT : Pic removed upon the request of the OP. ;)

Excellent stuff - only by fucking up do you really learn.

You should harvest the 3g, and try revegging the plant -
just for the hell of it.

Revegging is a bit tricky to do but a truly amazing
thing to witness...

You cannot reveg a autoflowering plant.

I have done a few grows from autos, they are good for what they are and recommend them for people with little space or just want a quick bit of bud,

They will never be as stong as full size plants nor will you get as much,

but they are good fun

My mistake Cisco,

I skimmed through it, but i must have missed the key details

My mistake

I have grown almost 15 different auto strains and only a handful IMO have been worth keeping.

buds the first time is good period .. lol ,, the first couple of years we grew weed we were wondering why we could never get buds .. was because we chopped em soon as they were six feet tall .. that was about 35 years ago .. never knew anything about growing buds then ... we sure got lots of useless leafage lol ...

As far as auto vs regular plants ,, depends what they are competing for I suppose ,, If someone does not have a good grow set up and can afford to buy auto flower seeds all the time then good for them .. The truth is,, if you find yourself a good strain or two or three or four ,, and keep few mommas ,, you can take cuttings at will and instead of having to start them from seeds you can have a perpetual system that will be pumping out way more bud and much quicker than the auto flowering units.. from what I been reading ,, it seems you will be waiting 3-4 months from seed to bud for the autos ,, we could put couple hundred rooted cuttings out in the corn in early august and pick them end of september ,, usually around two to three ounces per .. so ,,, what is better ?? depends what you want to do...... :) couple hundred auto seeds might cost a pretty bundle ..
