MySQL 'could not connect to database' errors are very common on shared hosts...could go VPS but that costs $'s...

Just grin and bear it and hit refresh...

It's getting tedious now, hence lack of login or otherwise.

Sometimes error occurs as much as 10 refreshes.

This is a question for "slimline" really.
I'm no expert but the server seems to be generally slow at serving up pages at the moment, as if something is throttling back our bandwidth. If a page takes too long you get an error message.
There have been a lot of people logged on recently. Although the phpBB software reports that "Most users ever online was 127 on 27 Jun 2007 06:16 pm" that was probably a freak occurrence due to search engines indexing the forum or something like that. The real number has been climbing steadily since the forum started in 2005.
I have no idea whether that's got anything to do with it though.

Is the amount of traffic to the site not sucking up all the bandwidth, hence the slow loading etc.

Hmm...I'd love to see the phpinfo file for this site's server...I think the socket timeout is way too low...I'm not an expert, but the way it hangs for maybe 3 seconds and then immediately throws an error suggests to me that one of the timeouts needs increasing...It is not load on the site, geez, MySQL-Apache-PHP can handle probably 10's of millions of requests per second...

Methinks it's the same as mine, on a free server that's over burdened is the other possibility...

Couldn't get access at all this morning....absolutely nothing, no matter what.

Cleared my entire Firefox cache and hey presto everything loaded fine, btw.
