Murals here are primarily used for spatial demarcation - you wont find them in posh suburbia (that I know of) - but I have to say I feel totally fine and safe around them. I guess cause I grew up through the Troubles, they have always just been there...but quite a few are getting 'cleaned up'

damn those are very cool. the gasmask one is interesting.

aside from the urban arts corridor we dont have alot of art here on buildings. alot of cool statues though. my faves are the jimi hendrix statue on capitol hill and the huge troll crushing the vw bug under the freemont bdidge.
educating myself and waiting for the next trip.

You could start up a troubles tours style venture like in give my head peace rufus . Northern Ireland is definitely unique when it comes to street art/murals, there are some fantastic ones from both sides, I always liked the trooper one from Iron maiden, there was one in Ahoghill not sure if is now. them murals are bloody great Marco where abouts in Amsterdam are they?

That's the sort of street art I like that Marco posted, good heavy graphics with a bit of thought gone into the creation.

Wish I now recorded it, but saw an arty documentary about 10 years ago on TV, completely dedicated to street art in Amsterdam.

Loving all the pics people are posting

Found a C215 double portrait on Voorburgwal last year. Stunning.
Not sure if its still there, but check out the link for his work.
