Moving there? I'm envious. I think that even if non-Dutch smokers are not allowed in coffeeshops, you will still have a plentiful supply and variety of cannabis to choose from. It just will be more like here in the US where you have to score quietly. Lots of luck to you.

calisway.... why the F would i go there if i gotta score shit on the street and smoke @ home?

lol thats the whole point of being in amsterdam! :-)

going to coffeeshops, smoking there, hanging out, meeting ppl.... thats what its all about dude.

if it goes through, dude... i'm off to cali. closest thing to the dam i guess.... still not the same but at least you can get really high end weed there...

I understand how you feel. I think there should be unhindered access to cannabis anywhere you go. :)

My vaporiser arrived a few days ago and i took the opportunity to send the "Vaposhop" an email to thank them and to ask them about the "Dutch" only membership cards for coffeeshops and any information they could give.
The reply was, We wait and shiver ;-(
Ever get the feeling the world is getting more and more fucked up.

Ahhh, there's nothing like livin' it "Rufus"...and if this 'mouse' i'm using doesn't start shapin' up, it's in line for some dire domestic abuse  ( I'm beginnin' to think throwin' a real one at the screen might give better results  )

Hmmmm.....NYE resolution...not to be a dick on the Internet....but the force is strong...

Sorry, but you post is quite frankly sad. And its part of the reason some Dutch want to do want to change their soft drug policy. They are a proud, sovereign country with many things, good and bad, both for the resident and visitor. Many do not want their country to be be viewed as a place that people only go to get high. It is embarrassing for many of them. Unfortunately, the issues with the border towns only exacerbates this feeling.

PS: I am not talking about your point about scoring on the street, the rest of it sounds like stoner logic. Amsterdam has been around for a lot longer than the CS scene, and no matter what happens, it will remain a special place.

How is the above guys post sad? Correct me if im wrong but the poster did not say anything about amsterdam remaining a special place or not. He simply said that if the ban comes into action he will not be going there again, the same way that if they closed down all the nightclubs in ibiza a lot of people wouldnt go there anymore. Tell me Whats wrong with that? If I'm not mistaken you live in Holland right? So im guessing this ban doesnt effect you in any way? hence the reason why you find it hard to accept that a lot of people only care about Amsterdam because of its free soft drug use policy.

Could you tell me anything that could make me keep coming back 3/4 times a year spending at least 1500 to 2500 pounds each trip? You could say the the museums and the history but I done all that the first time I went there with the ex 8 years ago lol, and I cant think of much else Amsterdam has to offer that I would not be able do in another country in Europe for cheaper and with better weather. face facts the majority of the "frequent" (the ones who spend the most money) visitors only come to amsterdam because of the weed policy and nothing else. all the rest of the "tourists" only go there once and that is usually for no longer than 4/5 days because there aint really fuck all to do there when you compare it to the other major cities in Europe. I for one dont know anybody who has been there for a 2week "holiday" lol and i guess nobody else who uses this forum does either

And if im to believe what you say about how some Dutch people want to change their soft drug policy then why not just Ban the whole thing so nobody could have it? because by just banning "foreigners" the Dutch Government just seem like very petty people.

LOL .... Sad.... hey marco... here's a word. dbag. look it up.

@king solomon WORD UP!

Actually marco's reply is quite sad... and pretty judgmental. ouch.

First, i'm not a 22 yr old kid running around stoned like a moron in the city, I run a business and spend a LOT of money in the dam... between housing, food, events... and yes smoking.

So yes, the city wants people like me there.... i help support the city when i go (2-3x a year)

And last time I checked, people don't go to amsterdam for their sun and beaches... nor do they go there for disney world or to see the grand canyon. Lets cut the bullshit, stop lying to yourself with your "holier than thou" bullshit....

People go to amsterdam, for the most part, cuz of the weed and the tolerance.

where else can you smoke in public (i.e. coffeeshop) and not feel like you're breaking the law like in the states where you smoke @ home and shit.

of course all the other stuff in the dam makes it cooler.... but no coffeeshops = no tourism.

like king solomon said. no clubs in ibiza = no tourists.

why the f would i go to ibiza if i couldn't party there?

you can flame me all you want buddy... doesn't change the truth.

@ aa05084 thanks dude.

So Marco.... along your same lines of thinking.... you'd probably still go to Las Vegas if gambling was illegal... right?

People go to vegas to gamble, do drugs and party. Thats what vegas is all about and they try to make it the best 'vegas' possible (although drugs aren't legal, everyone can get them if you just ask around lol).

People for the most part, go to amsterdam to smoke weed. It's like a legendary "mecca" of sorts for potheads, college students etc.

Accept it and try to make it the best 'thing' possible.

just sayin'

Hello

I'm new to the site and was reading this post and I'm a little confused.

I'm visiting from the U.S in june of this year, can I still partake in the Dam's delicasies? I plan on visiting some museums as well.

I didn't read every post, but I've already booked plan tickets and would be seriously disappointed if I couldn't indulge as a "foriegner".

Thanks for responses

As of right now there is no ban on foreigners. Things may change between now and when you leave. I would keep an eye out for anything official in the news. http://DutchNews.nl is an English language news site that is reputable.

Peace,
