Im not an expert but i believe the no advertising is about selling cannabis not advertising the actual establishment ? As every advert for a CS i see there is no mention of cannabis etc

Agreed, C/S's cannot advertise their "wares", been this way since I can remember, many moons ago. Next time one goes into a shop, just ask, they will tell you. It's not a secret. Ever notice how some shop personnel can become nervous (or refuse) when asked to take a pic of their menu? Wonder why?

There is a future for Dutch coffeeshops, just not in ours.

Happy puffing...

I have enjoyed the reading. I live in NYC, and there is NO worse or better city in which to be a tourist. It is also terrible for us locals when tools from "that place (wherever it may be)" come here and s l o w o u r p a c e down, but really? Tourists and investments in local labor are the lifeblood of modern cities. I have been to the major destinations in Europe, but continue to return to Liverpool, the Isle of Man, AMS, MUC, Siena, etc because they are awesome, and offer something I can't get at home...A DIFFERENCE! HAHA...Sometimes? You need some..."strange..." And, this is no more true than with cities...Now, I love Amsterdam, will be there on the 16th of April, for my 50th visit anniversary, so I am obviously a fan. I have visited without smoking, and with smoking. If the law adjusted itself in a (personally, a descriminatory, I would think) way, I would of course still GO to Amsterdam. It has much to offer. Pot does not make Amsterdam great. Amsterdam IS great, and the ability to enjoy some grass is merely a benefit of its greatness...And forward thinking...This is not the fist time the Dutch took an idea and made it better. In New Amsterdam, my hometown, the Dutch West India Company allowed African slaves a "half-freedom" which resulted in them having self-control over their destinies for part of the year, before being recalled for major public works projetcs (for which they received NO remuneration...They were slaves...). But, it allowed some dignity to be retained. Thanks to the Brits for making Slavery a business! Sorry... (stepping down...) I will shut up now-ish; but, remember: No city with a long past is a one-trick pony. Oh yeah: and Vegas? Is in Clark County...A county in Nevada where prostitution is actually illegal...What was the definition of Ironic again...?

BTW, no movement about restricting the coffeeshops, so much ado about nothing so far.

dconstrukt wrote:thanks for speaking up guys... oh and great analogy about going to france for wine or to wine country in cali.

i dont think all the tourists who come to smoke are obnoxious. yeah thats probably true for 20 yr olds, but me? i'm 37.... i dont know many obnoxious 30 something yr old stoners.

I'm 47 & hubby is 59  and we are definately not obnoxious, we just enjoy the freedom of being able to have a smoke in a coffeeshop. We have been going for over 20 years now but would have no interest anymore if the ban goes through.

By the way Andy Gilmore is a Rochester, New York-based artist who works for the New York times and for Nike. I forgive your ignorance.
Thanks for being so generous. Considering your Dad forgave your Mom for lying about being on the pill, you must come from a very magnanimous family.

This will be my last post to you, btw

This is taking things a bit too far in my opinion!
