also on a side note, these students are protesting the fact the that the government is going to cut the amount of subsidising for univeristy fees, thus students will have to pay more of their own way for education, whether thats right is your own opinion....... what makes me laugh is. 99% of students go to university to get a qualification, so they can earn more money in the real world..... and cunting leftists and anarchists jump into the argument, claiming to be on the side of the students, when most students are model capitalists in the making.

Bit off the mark imo.

Most buisness students come from Oxbridge, and the the top 10% of the Universities in England, which already out cost the poorer students due to hall costs and loans not covering the cost. Therefore instilling a class system to uni's, even though they have an equalities policy. These Uni's also make ALOT of money through research etc. Just a side note there. The students that go to these uni's don't get loans as well, so it doesn't affect them.

This policy will affect what is known as increasing participation universities. The EMA is being cut by 80%, these unis don't have the research money 'cos they were set up to increase paricipation and take money from the EMA set aside for the I.P unis. This is a problem because they'll have to put up fees, puttin off the poorer students the target of I.P unis. Therefore lowering money coming into the uni's, meaning the uni's will close. Any guess what most people come out of IP unis with? Teaching/Nursing/Social Work degrees. So it doesn't affect the buisness students, but the Public sector ones.

Another point, ALL major three parties have used student votes, Labour in the 90's Tory 2005 and Lib Dems recently, and gone back on it. Students have been lied to for years they have every right to riot IMO

This seems like one of the only ways to get your voice heard in the UK these days! I applaud the students for getting off their arse's and making their voices heard. Sure as heck no-one ever changed the world by chatting on forums!

The rich in the Uk (Tories) want to make higher education for the elite. They say we can no longer afford to educate the masses, whilst looking after the tax burden of the richest in the country. If the Tories were allowed to (and watch this space) they would burn the poor to keep their heating bills down during the winter.

Tax the banks, burn the rich, lets look after the poor for a change!

I hope each and EVERY student making there protest beyond a peacefull protest lose there place and right to a university place and face a criminal trial and conviction for any violent conduct.

I know that would still be a small percentage of the whole number but there has still been hundreds who have commited a criminal offence and should loose there place and go to prison.

Any one protesting against new legalisation (miners strikes for eg) the government would shrug it off, but if the students got on it also the pressure was mounted n them tenfold. Students used to be a force the government actually feared on some level. They would stand with anyone being oppressed, en mass, yet these days the majority of the student population only really get riled up when they're hit personally (& in this case financially).

I'm all for the protests, but I get the feeling most students these days are too wrapped up in their cocoon-like lifestyles. I know of countless people who only took up further education 'cos it was 'free money'. But that's the difference in perception teens have these days I suppose. It's all perceived in such a way in that what will be most beneficial in a monetary context.

Student loans for a lot of people these days is like being on the dole, but your parents are proud of you.

When I was a student this was the time of the year I was working my ass off getting my coursework in as it was always due this time of the semester - how do these guys find the time to get involved!!!

I'm all for protest hell I have done, and do it myself but don't agree with some of their tactics...Thursday could be interesting...

Would a higher tax bracket for earnings above £100k really not be a better solution?

That is a rediculous point ( is it even a point ? ).
I am very proud of those willing to put themselves in harms way to make a point to ANY government that the people DO HAVE A SAY IN FREE SOCIETY.
I swear some of you would of been happier growing up in North Korea or someshit where all the decisions could be spoon fed to you.

id prefer my tax ££'s to go towards educating some so they dont become a 'sun' reader than my money going towards building new bombs & tanks, but thats just me
