Wernard starts new pro-cannabis political party
Wernard is starting a new political party wich is pro-cannabs, Wernard is Hollands potfather and owner of coffeeshop Mellow Yellow, founder of Mediwiet, Positronics and others. The IPN will stand up for the rights of cannabis smokers, growers, entrepreneurs and others involved, and tackle issues like education, disability, ect. I dont exactly know what is happening right now in Netherlands politically, but Nol seems adoment that Wernard needs to win or it could mean the end to coffeeshops, seed banks, and anything else that is included in the coffeeshop scene. I will have more to share when I get more info, I anticipate a website for Wernards campaign.

Re: Wernard starts new pro-cannabis political party
Wernard Bruining is the original (and former) owner of Mellow Yellow, the first independent coffeeshop in Amsterdam, that was located at Amstel 53 in a squatted bakery, not at it's current location of Vijzelgracht 33. Mellow Yellow has changed owners a few times since Mr Bruining owned it. It is currently owned by the same nice guy, Robert, that also owns The Noon. Peace.

I meant to write founder of Mellow Yellow,
The Dutch cabinet fell yesterday so Wernard should have a better chance at winning, elections could be held in October of this year. Dumb-ass rapping Donner is out. Nol the owner of all Willy Wortels coffeeshops gave away free joints to people who were in the shop when the cabinet fell, I could use a free joint right about now.

don't sound the alarm so soon--
After reading the past few months, I don't think the coffeeshops are in all that much danger. The health minister declined to classify Nederwiet as a "hard drug," and anyone who looks at this site can tell that shops are not closing in any big fashion.
Plus, the Netherlands rejected the EU constitution. Nol may be upset about plans--still unratified, and very unpopular--to eliminate national exercise of "veto" over EU laws. He may also be unhappy that Parliament recently rejected legalizing commercial growing. But with the Cabinet collapse, we stand a good chance of ejecting the culprit of the "getting tough" stance--CDA.
As for Nol's creation of a new party, more power to him. But let's not think that the coffeeshops are doomed. Those of you going, no new legislation will even be written or proposed for another three months.
Enjoy!

PS--
The idea of closing shops to foreigners is at the European High Court, with a decision in 2008. Plus, all parties except CDA are for retaining coffeeshops.
But Nol is ambitious, I admire him. It would be great if this party gets seats, and maybe is included in the new Cabinet.
