The link didn't work, but to those that didn't know, AZ passed the MMJ law last Nov.
What is happening now is the publication of the rules/laws/guidance pertaining to use, growing, licensing, manufacturing, distribution, etc..., with an effective date of 14 April 2011. http://www.therepublic.com/view/story/e ... ana-Rules/

No on both counts.
This is the home of Sen. John McCain, Republican.
The state Senate and House are controlled by the Republicans.
The governor is Republican (Jan Brewer).
The only reason why there is MMJ in Arizona is because of the voters. The politicians would never have passed such a bill.

One of the rules I don't like is the 25 mile rule, not allowed to grow your own if you live within 25 miles of a dispensary. Capitalism rearing its ugly head perhaps? Still better than the alternative, no MMJ.

we're doing the same(second year in a row) thing here in Washington with I-1149. if we can get enough signatures we can get it on the ballot. have my doubts but it sure would be nice.

Thanks for the link.
Interesting read, this especially caught my attention:
"(5) The People intend to remove all existing civil and criminal penalties for adults eighteen years of age or older who cultivate, possess, transport, sell, or use marijuana, without impacting existing laws proscribing dangerous activities while under the influence of marijuana or certain conduct that exposes younger persons to marijuana."
In escense, this group is proposing to legalize marijuana, as Cal tried and failed to do.

Lastly, this is what awaits the reader at the end:
"This act may be known and cited as the Marijuana Reform and Legislation Act."

Could Wash. be the first state to legalize?

Any news on progress is news to spread, whether here, there, or anywhere. :)

AZ passed the law in Nov. 2010, the Legislature had until April 2011 to publish the details of the new law, which is what happened last week. This law becomes effective 14 April 2011.

Here's hoping that Washington State can do what California failed to do, legalize cannabis.
