Dave J wrote:Easyjet were funny buggers round my booking time. They stated a cheapest price citing you'll get a refund off your next flight if it drops. Kind of gives the impression it wont go cheaper at all!. A discount off a future flight is worthless when my passport runs out in august with no chance of a new 1 this year. They drop the price no money to book. They up it and then have to book. Goes up again, glad I booked. Then a sale making the flights cheaper than launch week prices.

So were KLM mate,OMG i will speak about it after ive eaten,KD.

So yea KLM,Once better than it is today i think so! for a start there customer claims dept is an utter joke,I spent about 2 hours one afternoon trying to sort out my airmiles & insurance claim form,I got the run around with like 4-5 phone numbers & general dis-interest from them & cedex in france,I did got my claim form however after like 8 weeks of waiting & the dates were WRONG! so i am waiting on it all over again as without it i cant claim 30 quid i think it was ,& as for my airmiles i am starting to worry now! i done everything they asked & even kept the recept & here we are after like 9 weeks with nothing to show! the worst thing of it all for me is i got NO meal voucher or phone card from them while i was stranded! everyone but me it seemed,I wouldnt have know at all if it wasnt for some woman asking "well at least you have your vouchers" voucher what vouchers?,& by the time i did get them it was time to check in so no food or phone call! i can handle being stranded but when you have people giving out no info what so ever its hard to know what to do or where you should go ,To tell you the truth i am gona go with easyjet now if i can help it as KLM have gone downhill! they are not even that cheap now,Ive used them on the last 5 trips & only untill like a year or 2 ago they were superb + the price difference compaired to easyjet wasnt all that big at all,& they gave me the times i wanted! but now after all the bs with my claims/vouchers/rude airport staff & late flights (or not running at all) i am pissed off with them,Ive been a flying blue member for like 2 years now & if they can treat so called "members" like that well maybe i am better off with cattle class,I can safely say i am gona get my debit card activated so i can book for myself! you would think if you paid them a little bit extra it would cut out all the crap that goes with a holiday sometimes but no not with them these days,KD.

Adding to Kingdoc, most legacy carriers have gone downhill. It's no longer about the passenger, it's about the bottom line. Sure one could argue that it's always been about the bottom line, but not like this, like removing meals (from economy class), snacks (from economy class), and some beverage services (from economy class).
There are times when I support the theory(?) that airlines complicated certain services to discourage people from using them, such as claims. Again, the bottom line is what takes preference. Sucks when an industry has the public at large by the balls, unless one is wealthy, and let's be honest, much if not all of this is moot. The hint is in the parentheses.
Another tidbit is how airlines are doing their best to increase cargo capacity, and premium seating as well. Passenger airlines make more money hauling cargo than (economy) passengers. A few years ago an airline analyst explained that passenger airlines would remain profitable with only having to service their (premium) customers and increase cargo capacity. So, how did the airlines respond - increased cargo capacity and a new class of passenger service, premium economy or economy plus. A considerable markup in price for what basically amounts to 1-2 inches of seat width and 2-4 inches of pitch. The difference in the markup versus the 4-6 seats lost still makes it profitable. Look for more airlines to decrease "cheap" economy seating and instituting the new "premium economy" or "economy plus".

Happy flying(?)...

My cheapest was £38 return (bmi baby, East Midlands), dearest about £400, Porsche 911 GT3RS. Drove from Lincolnshire to Dover, ferry to Calais then up to `dam for 2 days then on to Nurbergring for a damned good thrashing (of the Porsche). Before anyone gives me shit about the Porsche you can sod off, it was proper fun, one of the best bits was hitting the limiter on the autobarn (155 mph  ) it feels so much faster on a public road. If any of you ever get a chance of such a drive in a car like that, take it, you`ll never forget it.
