Bikes

Post by den »

2day hopefully seen the start of the good weather everyone else has seen. It has been miserable weather wise here for ages. So with the sun out i thought id get the shorts on grab the bike and go out for a cycle. Granted i only done a few miles but where i live there are some lovely hills and cyclists are well catered for. Ive got a 27 speedmoutain bike with excellen suspension front only. A mish mash of other bikes really.
Well first of was carlton hill. An absolutely stunning view of the city from this hill u can see the firth of forth, easter road stadium. The football team hibernian play from this park. Anyway a couple of times up and down this hill choosing different tracks each time got my heart rate up nice.

Then off 2 a hill called Arthur seat. Not a huge hill this but it is steeped in legends and stories. I think it has a connection with king arthur of camelot.
This hill has steep graggy sides with great tracks 2 cycle. this is where the views are!! You can see the whole city. 2moro i plan 2 take a camera and get some shots of the city.

Does anyone else here cycle. The dutch and the chinese have got it right with the bikes man. I'ts such a great waay 2 explore witchever city u are in. Mp3 player on and away u go.

Peace.

Hey Den,

I have a bike from Halfords, an Apollo Creed, it's pretty cool and does the job... I have a huge park nearby and often throw the bike in the back of the van and take to dog out for a couple of hours... Will be nice to see your views...

I'm not much of a cyclist even though it's me main form of transport, but I've taken a few runs out to the beach lately when the sun's been out. 20km each way, top day out .......with the right essentials!.

If yer bike is too good here you can NEVER leave it. Mine's a mountain bike with dual suspension....cost me 10 bucks, the lock and chain cost me 95!

That chain DC's got, it must weigh about 40lbs. Is that about right DC? Felt pretty heavy when I picked it up in April. You'd need a torch to cut that chain off. AzLaker 8)

Maybe not as much as that, but not a kick in arse off it :D .......and after 20km in the blistering sun it feels more like 400lbs  Still, without it I'd be on bike 15 like most of the people I Know, instead of bike 2....and even then the fekers only got me back wheel!.

Have never been to Edinburgh since I left high school (we went there on a field trip once) and that's going back around 20 years.

Nice to see the castle hasn't changed much. That's about the only place round there I know of (apart from Murrayfield and the two soccer teams there).

Will have to drag my arse up there one day.

Any recommendations Den? (Pubs, places that sort of thing?)

Hey mazdog or any of the other yank ACDers. America is such a massive place that there has 2 be some amazing views. Wots the chances of you guys posting some pics. The laddie is away at his dads this weekend but i plan on taking him up arthur seat wen he gets back. weather permitting and we will get those pics of the city i was on about.

Doog. sorry man i dont really drink alchohol so im a bit stumped as 2 offer any advice on a good night out in edinburgh. My advice would probably be go to glasgow. There are some great places dont get me wrong. The hidden streets of old edinburgh buried and built on after the bubonic plague. St mary's close, greyfriars graveyard, the museum of scotland, Edinburgh castle. All very interestin and historicly proud places 2 visit. Not long ago we had the opening of the new waterway system linking edin 2 falkirk. Where the famous falkirk wheel is. A great day out for the family young and old.
Also another interesting attraction we have near the city is the museum of flight in east fortune. If i remember correctly they have a decomissioned concorde

Peace.

Oh, Den, for sure the most beautiful place in America is Alaska. I spent a few weeks in Alaska a few summers ago, and it's just a fascinating place. If I can borrow a scanner off someone, I might upload some pictures I took rock climbing etc. I mean, the place is just fantastic.

But living in the mountains provides some nice views in good weather, too. Maybe I'll scrounge up some batteries and snap a few shots around town. Winters here are pretty amazing when it snows.
