the US defeated japan alone?

i think you will find you didnt beat them alone in the pacific there where alot of british fighters as where they where everywhere aswell. and you had no tactics whatsoever, most countries special services forces are modeled after the British SAS, why? because they are successful in what they do and are very tactical and precise in there missions, wasnt it not so long ago a american 'special forces' (call them what you please) got a british news reporter killed?

as for the nuclear bombs which technically 'beat' japan, most of the scientists etc... that created these bombs where either nazi scientists or donated by Britain because you wouldnt 'back us up' against Germany unless we accepted your 'lend lease' program, and shared our secrets/technology, for example the Radar, which the yanks had in place at pearl harbour and detected the japs coming but did nothing, along with other warnings.

My opinion is 100% the same.
I like americans but I hate their government! The us government acts against all human rights and that is what everybody should know! Mr. Bush (I know it's the ex persident) should be kidnapped and waterborded till his last breath imo! Fuck him and all of his crew! Bush is a dirty bastard!
at least the people of america knew what they were getting when they voted in bush, in the uk we voted in some 2nd hand car dealer called blair who was supposedly left wing

I never said that the US won the war on their own, and you can debate many of the mis-statements you made above by yourself. Some are wrong, some half-right. But you obviously have it in for Americans, which is sad, because the blood of my family was spilled more than once on your (and my behalf). Your post is quite off from your usual tone, to have to denigrate the US's enormous contribution to making the world safe during the 1939-45 period shows a certain insecurity. What is the point?

If this is going to dissolve into a discussion about WWII, I am out. I met a few vets of the 82nd Airborne (Battle of the Bulge) in Bastogne recently (there are maybe 15 left that make it over for the commemoration) and to be honest, I have too much respect for them make this another message board argument.

Last thing, I in no way defending the US gov, but any to European, your hands are not clean, not now or in the past. It was your (mine too) peoples who set the stage for the times we live in.

And that goes double for you Colina, considering where you call home. No disrespect intended my friend.

not directed at anyone in-particular, it just infuriates me when americans are very biased when it comes to the facts. i mostly blame it on the american education system. the majority seem to think that america are the almighty nation that wins everything itself, casting shadows on the main contributors, which is alot of the time is european alliances.

There are many Americans as you describe, and its not only the educational system, we also have a lot of dumb people.

What infuriates me is that some Europeans don't know their own history much better and believe some post-war left-wing nonsense that completely twists the facts from reality (not directed at anyone in particular).

We germans are not proud of our history, believe me.
Our ancestors have be manipulated by propaganda and very soon they had no chance for any resistance without a risk for their lives. my generation has been taught to build your own opinion at first, that something like that will never happen again.

wikileaks informs that people can have their own opinion.
without information you have to believe what you're told by media that is manipulated by the governments! look at china, russia, italy...

Truest thing posted in a while.

War is evil, there's no honor in it just complete sadness at the loss of life and view of humans as being no more valuable than a tool to win a battle which is ultimately in the grand scheme of things pointless.

I would of thought after our years on this earth, we'd of moved beyond War as an acceptable part of existence. The fact we haven't makes me think it's fate we destroy our own existece.

usa did kind of take the brunt in the pacific. not as much as the soviets took the brunt in europe but from 1942-45 we were probably most involved. britain was def there too though in big numbers. dont see why it matters as to which country did most. the whole allied effort was a COMBINED effort.

and had wikileaks been around in the 40's both America and Britain would have gotten nailed for things they did. see the allied fire bombings of Dresden and hamburg. very fucked up. thousands suffocated from the air that was sucked away from the fire storm and those that made it into air raid shelters were incinerated like they were in an oven from the surrounding fires.

and also to be fair americans also have a short memory. look at all the "hate" for the french making jokes about their military record and such, but fact is if it wasn't for them and their help during the revolution there may not be an america.

an aticle by the new york times:

Wikileaks Cables Portray Expanded Reach of Drug Agency
By Ginger Thompson and Scott Shane, The New York Times - Monday, December 27 2010

there's nothing more important than true information imo!
have your own opinion based on the information you get, without information you'll never be able to have an opinion!
Wikileaks changes the world.
