Check out phpBB3 forum

Post by slimline »

As your probaly aware the forum was offline for an hour tuesday @ 23.35 UK time.

In that time lemming and I copied the forum into the newer phpBB3 format.

You can try it at http://lem.localinet.co.uk/phpBB3

When Lemming is happy we have all the postings and current members, we will delete the phpBB3 forum and re-import the data.

Please do post on this forum, it will get deleted.

Try it and let us know if anything is missing (excluding the Avatar problem)

Many thanks

please send comments to :- slimline@coffeeshopdirect.com/forum

I like the change in look, quite appropriate for the upcoming Holidays, and a different scene for the eyes! Cheers!

never really been a big fan of phpBB as its querying etc.. was rather slow in comparison!

I also have not the foggiest idea what is going on, yet i really do want to say thank you! I put my money in the slot and donated again this week. I think this site is great. Such a friendly open board is a true gem to find!

Well done guys! :D

Don't worry about all of the technical stuff. The main point is to check that your account is intact and all of your posts up to last night were copied over successfully.

The reason for the change is that we need to upgrade the software that makes the forum work. The version that it's using now is getting very dated and is no longer supported by the makers. The new version has lots of new features. Most of these features are behind the scenes protection against spammers and so forth but some, like friends and foes, are available to everyone and are features that some members have been requesting for years.

Will the new forum have the links to the ACD map, the Directory, etc as this one does?

Hi Lemming,
Should we re-load our avitars?
If I don't see you no more in this world, I'll meet you on the next one.

Yes. I'll need to customise whichever style(s) we finish up with once it all settles down but, yes, I do intend to figure out how to have the same page header.

Sure. Yours seems to be OK though. Hopefully we won't lose any more of them and they'll all copy over successfully.
