How does Holland coppe with snow?

Post by archambaut »

Surely can't be worse than the UK.

I'm due to go this weekend (18th-22nd), and I'm wondering if
the trains/trams will still be operational should the white terror
return as is being threatened.

Any info appreciated.

First off, it never snows more than a few inches. Holland copes very poorly. There are massive traffic jams, tram lines freeze and no one clears the sidewalks or bike paths (maybe in the center) so watch out!

Cheers Marco - if the white terror descends, I may
not even make out of the UK. :(

Staying in Haarlem but plan day trips to the Dam.,
so OK if the trains keep going.

Can handle walking in the snow,
plus it makes the dog shit easier to see :D

sounds pretty much like the uk , little bit of snow , mass panic & everything goes to shit :wink:
Sending out the good vibes to those that need them right now :-)

Oh yes, the train tracks freeze as well.

I would stay of a bike if its snowing or raining and below freezing. Almost all of us have the scars to prove it. Cheers!

every year when i go at christmas time there is always a scare that either the london airports will be shut or schipol will be, thankfully i've never had this problem, and touch wood i don't, ever.....

But by the sounds of it amsterdam crumble when it snows just as much as england does. A little bit of snow and everything comes to a halt in london.
