After spending 2 nights at The Old Quarter i considered a change so went in here for a look... asked for a Latte in the very smalll bar area and was told they didnt do them and was offered beer instead :x
I went back to Old Quarter where the rate was 50e w/end and 45e mid week - and you can smoke in the room :P

Stayed there a few years ago. Nice place, standard a'dam b&b, reasonable breakfast - ham, eggs, bread the usual. Downstairs is a bar, pretty well stocked but I'm not a drinker so can't tell you anymore than that. the steps are steep as fuck, the rooms are comfortable and clean and if you get a street view you can watch people trawl in and out of the red light district. No problems with smoking in the room :D I'd go again.

Reserved a single room here for next month, reviews on tripadvisor seem to be OK. Just wondering if anyone on this forum has stayed here recently?

you can actually go very wrong with old quarter. its a great place the twin rooms are good, but last thing you would ever want is room H9.

Ive stayed in old quarter, really thin room where you could almost wash your hands in the bedsit style sink, in bed. Very budget feel, skanky and cheap. However its litterally in the best location going for partying on your doorstep and the staff were nice so no complaints here!

I'd ask that you don't get H8 either , other side of the landing , i'm guessing that it's set out the same , better to be safe , if your taller than say 4ft you've had it
I've got a twin booked there for Nov
Sending out the good vibes to those that need them right now :-)

Any recent reviews of this place? Can you still smoke in the rooms?

I am coming for a last minute 24 hour trip and need somewhere to crash that allows smoking and is relatively safe for a solo female.

Thanks, I had a good read. Hard to tell from recent write ups if they still allow smoking.... I hope so!

I was in Nickel a year or two ago and the real downer is that their single rooms are way too small, I felt like sleeping in a wc. Rather underwhelming, but that's what you pay for. My advice is book only if you're seriously on the budget and like the location. Oh well, the mistake was mine and... their feline was cute.
