T-Mobile and 3g in amsterdam??

Post by smokseyj »

Hey,

Im heading out to 'dam next monday. I've always been the map reader and planner for the group. Your often see me and my bro leading the way with 4 stoners crawling behind.....However im thinking of using the google maps on the phone to get us about his time. I have an iphone but im a bit worried bringing it because its not insured and i can be known to forget things when im stoned...Anyways, my bro will bring his phone..he is on tmobile and i was wondering if anybody has purchased the Booster which allows you to have 3g for the week for £5....i asked a tmobile staff member and they said that you need to order it once your in holland through the browser....

If anybody has done this and can confirm its easy/works/worth the money then please let me know....Thankyou

No idea about the boost but we have T-mobile for our blackberries at the office and their network SUCKS! So be prepared to have slow service.

Good luck!

My t-mobile iphone 3G worked fine through my trip (it had full 3G service bar did not actually use it as the booster wasn't avaliable then)

I believe it is a case of texting a number to enable the booster

to be honest there is loads of free wi-fi around (especially in coffeeshops!) which you could use for free :D

I am on TMobile but only just and havent been to the dam since joining them. However if you are using google maps and can get google maps 5 (Android can, not sure about the others), i think you can cache the maps. That is, at home on wifi, you should be able to browse to Amsterdam, and the maps will be downloaded and saved on the phone. So hopefully shouldnt need a data connection at all. Not 100% sure this works but i think it should.

I've used this booster and the text and talk one. Both work very well for a tenner. Just make sure your roaming is turned on otherwise you wont get a signal. When I got my new sim, it didnt work when I got to the dam. I was assured by customer service that they had done it all properly before I left the UK, However, a quick call on a friends tmob phone to 150 and they turned it on correctly. 2 of the other lads were on Vodafone, 1 on Orange and 2 of us on Tmob. For the ones not on Tmob there were no cheap internet packages outside the UK at that time.

When you arrive in Dam open a web browser page and you wil be given option for daily, 20meg or 50 meg. make your pick and you will be charged on your contract or if on pay as you go make sure you have enough credit on your sim.

Boosters been used by me in Dam, fuetaventura, Tenerife, Spain and Italy on tmob last year with no problems.

I found them to be resonably priced, easy to set up and the speed was more than adequate for mapping, facebook, emails and ACD surfing :D . Definately worth it for me.
Have a great trip m8.
