Queens day 2011

Having never done Queens day before the wife comes out this morning and suggests we go instead of going for my birthday (may), nothings set in stone but I'm looking at going for about 4 nights, wednesday to sunday (27th april - 1st may), anyone else?

the buses & trams are shut down
so i suggest walking to your furthest point early in the morning
and gradually heading back to your point of origin

I'm just about always in town for Q-Day I'll see you all there again this year. I'm up at Basjoe's for a wake and bake about 10 or so. I stay down the street at the Stayokay.

Queens Day is madness, I've never seen anything like it! I do recommend it, although you should be a little careful. When the sun starts going down, people are getting really drunk, things can get a bit ridiculous.

I watched it change from "yay, dance party in the sun!" to "groups of drunken men roaming around looking for trouble"

My friends were selling beer on the street. They knew it was time to pack up when one of these groups came by to harass us. The ringleader started grabbing the beers off the table and handing them out to the group, obviously with no intention of paying. We couldn't say too much. Ya'll know how it is with really drunk people, they don't need much motivation to turn to violence.

Mostly its fun and good vibes though! Don't get TOO messed up, and have a contingency plan to get back to your hotel. If you can get on a boat party, thats one of the best places to be! Limited crowd, and you can watch the chaos unfold from a distance
