Syd Barrett 1946 - 2006

A shame for all Pink Floyd fan's - *bbc link*

Before my time I know, but still appreciate a legend in music. I did buy 2 of his albums (Barret & The Madcap Laughs) during my stint of hippy music taste several years ago; I will load up a bowl and play some tracks tonight...only wish I was in the Pink Floyd coffeeshop to top it off!

Shine on you crazy diamond Syd. I saw Roger Waters in Hyde Park about 10 days ago and he sang “Shine On”.

Yep. Another musical great has left us. Pink Floyd were largely before my time and I have come to the conclusion that I missed a lot of all the greatest bands and artists ever to have graced the music scene.

You can still listen to the albums nowadays but I feel that you really had to be there at the time it was originally happening to have full appreciation of what it meant.

The here today gone tomorrow bands of the present surely can't compare.
