De Pijp

Post by Valo »

Could someone kindly tell me how to pronounce this part of town?

Would it be (as in English) a short sounding word like Pip, or longer like Pipe?

Just don't want to sound an idiot if I had to ask directions, I heard they got some good coffeeshops down there - nothing to do with the RLD (honest!)

I'm sure Claud or goeroeger can give a better answer but in the meantime I can tell you that it's pronounced like "pipe". A "j" in Dutch is pronounced like a "Y" in English.

De Pijp is a wonderful area. Check here for more:
