Once accepted, all you have to do is spend £10 on either card ( you get 2 cards, a LLoyds Mastercard and an American Express card) by the 31 May 2011, to get an Airmiles voucher for 1500 miles. You will need to sign up for an airmiles account (which is free) if not already a member, and away you go! The current offer is available until 28 February 2011. You do not have to bank at Lloyds and once you have your voucher you can stop using their credit cards if you so wish.
The one snag, if it is a snag, is that you must book at least one night in an Airmiles Hotel during your trip. So if you say are going for 7 nights, then simply chose the cheapest Hotel they offer, stay there for one night and then move on to your fave hotel/hostel or private accommodation. With airmiles you do not pay airport taxes etc., all charges are set against your free 1500 miles. A tip about booking with Airmiles, when trying to book on line you often find that you cannot get the flight times you wish for. Also, on their site, when you chose a hotel for just one night, the site still offers you accommodation for your complete stay. It is best to phone them - contact details on their site - to complete your deal. Their call centre is in the UK and the staff are, surprisingly, really helpful (no, I do not work for Airmiles or Lloyds!).
I live in an off shore Island in the UK, and it often costs me £150+ just for a return flight to Gatwick. Last week I booked 4 nights in the Dam and opted to use one of their hotels for all of my stay. The total cost for 4 nights, including flights from here to Gatwick then connecting to the Dam and a 4 star hotel was £204.
