Least Corrupt Nations.

Post by Trad »

The World's Least Corrupt Nations, 2010
According to the annual survey by the Berlin-based organization Transparency International, Denmark, New Zealand, Singapore, Finland, and Canada are perceived to be the world's least corrupt countries, and Somalia, Myanmar, Afghanistan, and Iraq are perceived to be the most corrupt. For a list of the most corrupt nations, see World's Most Corrupt Countries. The index defines corruption as the abuse of public office for private gain and measures the degree to which corruption is perceived to exist among a country's public officials and politicians. It is a composite index, drawing on 13 different expert and business surveys. Only 178 of the world's 193 countries are included in the survey, due to an absence of reliable data from the remaining countries. The scores range from ten (squeaky clean) to zero (highly corrupt). A score of 5.0 is the number Transparency International considers the borderline figure distinguishing countries that do and do not have a serious corruption problem. In the 2010 survey, 75% scored below five.

Very interesting website you've found there "Trad", i'm glad i live in a place that isn't too corrupt and i suppose most folk would have a fair idea which countries you'd expect to find in the lower reaches. Interestin' that "Italy" is placed one below "Rwanda", not sure if that's the "Berlusconi" effect  Apologies to any "Italian" ACD's who may take offence. Met a really cool Italian 'toker' in "Abraxas" on my first visit to the "Dam", he watched me try and roll a joint and i'm sure took pity on me, givin' me his joint to smoke while he finished rollin mine . He was on a charge to visit all these different coffeeshops and associated stoner places, probably the most organised 'toker' i've ever seen, maps, jotters to write stuff down, the lot 8) kind of gave me the kick in the arse i needed to organise my future trips, so i wasn't floatin' round "Amsterdam" like a fart in a trance. He told me that if they caught you with some smoke in "Italy" it wasn't the jail you had to worry about, it was a psychiatric hospital  Very scary. Prison; finish your sentence and you're out. Psychiatric unit; prove it... worked with a guy who was a psychie nurse, who told me about a young bloke out with his friends in "Glasgow", drunk as a skunk(hard to believe in "Scotland", i know  )who decided to show off to his friends by walkin' along the parapet of one of the bridges across the "Clyde". A police car stopped and told him to get down. To impress his friends some more, he starts to tell the police he's gonna jump and starts laughin his head off...before he comes down. He gets to spend the next 2 weeks bein' assessed in a secure unit tryin' to prove he's not suicidal. Not good. Be careful what you say, even in jest...
The "Italian" guy had very outspoken views on the whole political situation in "Italy" and beyond, but i was that stoned i could hardly hold ma joint never mind a coherent conversation. I must have asked him his name about 3 times and each time forgot it instantly. Not cool at all, but he was very good about the whole thing. A fine upstanding representative of my country
I'll be havin' a more in depth look at that site you found "Trad" again later. Cheers  8)

"Trad" ,as i'm sure you know, it suits some of the wealthy/powerful nations of the world, to keep that map coloured in as it is, corrupt and destabilised. Only occasionally do they pop their heads above the parapet and if your fast you'll catch a glimps of them, fat cats in suits makin' decisions often on our behalf. You just know they'll live to a ripe old age, in manicured, tranquil settings, far away from the real world, with their fit, healthy and secured futured grandchildren all around them. Such a pity you can't reach through the TV sometimes and at least give them a good slap :x That's why i started the "Wikileaks" thread to see the reaction from the fellow ACDers about how the world is run on many levels. Interestingly it's tailed off..i think "Julian Assange" may be more than a little apprehensive about what will happen next and may be lookin' to deal.. not everyone's moral fortitude will measure up to a "Mandela" or "Gandhi". Pity the poor bastard in the military stockade, young, idealised, and very probably nieve about how badly the world can bite back and how quickly he'd feel very alone...
I'm gonna go and get a mint after that...got a terrible taste in my mouth

Surprised the UK is not higher up the list!

FFS the majority, if not ALL the people who run this country as MP's have had there hand in the tax payers pockets for years with all the false expenses claims. What happened when it all came our last year?. Oh yeah lets just reform the system, draw a line under it and make a few tokan arrests etc.

In others words the greedy bastards have got away with it.
