€440 each for 4 nights might just be okay. I just emailed the owner and he wants €600 for 4 nights (€300 each). And this isn't for a summer trip but this November. Either November is very busy in Amsterdam or I caught him on a greedy day.

My current trip for just 2 nights is costing less than €300 for the pair of us. And that's including flights.
are your dates during the Cup, that might be the reason for the higher price

Emailed the owner today to ask if they had any grinders and pipes in the room,

Was told "of course they have grinders not sure about pipes"

What a fcuking cool place to make your home whilst visiting Amsterdam!

Plenty of "tools" - good number of glass and wooden pipes - about 3 bongs - papers galore. Stayed in the spacious top floor - lots of stairs , but very comfortable indeed.

Saves me the cost of buying said tools that I would only use for three days

Don't worry about that I'm on me Todd for this one, back end of a business trip so I decided to take a bit of quality me time.

If you hear the stone roses playing above you then that means I've arrived 8)

just dropping in to confirm that this place is well, well worth staying at. if your going over and there's a group of you that want to all smoke this is the perfect place. this was my 8th time in amsterdam but the 1st perfect venue.

I've yet to try Funky Chickin and I am not sure why. I'm back in the dam on the 3rd of June until the 6th and decided to go with Dam Cribs as last time I stayed here the staff were brilliant. Kind, helpful and even dropped the city tax and 40 euros from the price (website said 480 + city tax for 4 nights - we ended up paying 440 total between us) because there were only 2 of us staying in a 4 person place, not to mention the place was perfect. This time the price is 380 euros plus 5.5% city tax. Might be a little steep but in all my trips to Dam I have never been in a summer month so I expected the price to be a little more to be honest. After reading this thread however (which included some good posts - the iPhone video walkthrough was great) I will definitely enquire at the Funky Chickin before my next trip.

Not sure of the reason why but the message on their website suggests they are looking for a new location to re-open.

yeah gutted to find that this place had closed down. recently started goosing and a'gandering for places to stay for my/our next excursion to amsterdam and discovered that the funky chickin is no more. shocking! however, their website forwards you to damcity.com, which looks pretty good itself as far as smoker-friendly apartment rental goes. damcity's faq is exactly the same as funky chickin's so i'm assuming the 2 are somehow related.

hope the funky chickin reopens somewhere. it's location on spuistraat was pretty awesome though :(
