Funky Chickin is a no compromise smokers paradise.

I have been visiting Amsterdam for many years. Usually staying in Hotels (Krasnapolsky, American), last time we stayed with stay Amsterdam in the Korte Konigwarstraat room. We really enjoyed having our "own" place while staying in Amsterdam. This time we really wanted to go somewhere that we could smoke freely. At funkychikin it is not tolerated but strongly encouraged.

First of all the location could not be better (maybe a gracht view would bring it one notch higher), it is located in a traditional dutch house on Spuistraat very close to Magna plaza and thankfully Albert Heijn. It was a 2:55 minute walk to Grey Area and about 3:30 to amnesia. HGF is also about 3 minutes away. The street gets a bit noisy in the morning, but is really not that bad. Ear plugs make it perfect. It is also not far from Centraal station and a very reasonable walk to the RLD.

As soon as we arrived, Duke greets us with a bag of Power plant as a welcome gift along with an ACD map and a recommendation to visit Grey Area and Amnesia (which is exactly where we were planning to go). He later even brought us some Amnesia Haze to smoke. It was quite tasty indeed!! Duke and Lina are two very kind and genuine people who were nothing but an absolute pleasure to deal with. Life must be good when you own a nice building in Amsterdam that you turn into a traveling smokers paradise with 3 rooms for rent and one to live in.

We stayed for 4 nights sun-thurs and were given the top floor room which is not recommended for someone who has physical disabilities or is lazy or a complainer. We really didn't mind. It was actually part of the experience. Our room had the shower as you walk in, go up another flight of stars that has the toilet, living room, kitchen, then another small stairway to the beds which are at the top. Very cool. Very dutch.

The rooms were equipped with papers, grinders, a bong, pipes, movies (porn too lol)..everything you need to have a good time. If you are looking for a place that caters to your smoking lifestyle, that you can cook in, that is clean, that has a great location and that is run by 2 wonderful people...look no further than Funkychickin.

The only complaint i had was that the Wifi didnt reach our floor so i needed to sit in the stairs or outside to use it. Not a big deal.

I think it's usually 100 euro a night. We ended up paying 80euro since we were last minute and the room was free.

Cheers FBN although this is more of a getaway from the kids break than a smoking break

The funky chickin apartment is brilliant, great location and great staff. they gave us some powerplant as well, which was great because we hadnt slept when we arrived and couldnt face going out straight away.

such comfort! nice table to play cards around with some good films (or horrible horrible porn lol) on in the backround.

we'll definatly be staying here whenver we go to Amsterdam in the future.

I inquired about room for December, but they were booked. The description sounds very cool. Any other places like this?

Damcity.nl wants 140 Euros+ per night (once u actually try to reserve room, contrary to their splash page). Is this standard for place to smoke? I saw greenhouse effect hotel (near coffee shop) was much cheaper but fully booked...
