For me its football aka football (sorry but I hate to see the game called soccer its not soccer anywhere but the US and they dont even understand the game properly sorry if this sounds harsh but thats the way I see it.) Wayne Rooney's a god, all time favs Maradonna, Kenny Dalglish & of course Pele.

i dont call it soccer either. I was just clarifying to others who dont call it football. Its called soccer in canada..i beleive we are the only two countries that call it such. I agree its not understood properly over here but thats because its just simply not watched. The avg american watches american gridiron football and basketball and even nascar and hockey more. There are alot of legit footie fans here(especially here in seattle..tons of celtic supporters for some reason) but 4 times as many Ignorant ones. Its not un common to have someone yell "goaaaalllll" at you on the street if your wearing a man utd, liverpool, etc kit.

pele was great..maradonna was too..in fact he was in my oppinion better..i jusat cant get over what he did to england in 86 and the fact that he was a bit dodgy..sneeky..whatever word you want to use. Cruyff and best need to be up on the all time list more.

Basketball.....Magic Johnson.... Truly a team player, who won a championship at all levels early and often in his career. Won a NBA Title his first year in the league, playing center, when Kareem Abdul-Jabbar went down with a ankle injury the previous game. One of the best players ever!!! AzLaker 8)

Talking of George Best one of my favourite quotes came from him:

 Sounds like quite a place

I actually call it soccer, mainly because it is completely different to Australian Rules FOOTBALL, and therefore should be named differently. Maybe that's why it's also called soccer in the US because they also have their own totally different football thing going on there as well.

Favourite players is always very hard to choose but one of my all time favourites has recently retired from the game. Dennis Bergkamp.

Other favourite sportsmen of my lifetime include Shane Warne (cricket) and David Campese (rugby)

Ignorance is bliss I suppose.

Football (the real football) was invented a long time before your Aussie rules & American stuff which is why it is the original and doesn't need any other words attached to it.

I am a huge football fan - and that has been the name of it since the 15th century or "fute-ball" to be exact. Anyway I only been a fan since 1990 and support Man Utd so two of my sporting greats would most definately be Cantona and Schmeichel...nowadays you would have to inlcude Rooney! But another one of my favourite players ever is Lothar Matthaus - I do support England with all my heart but have German roots so I like the Germany team as well.

That and tennis are probably the only popular sports in England I follow (as i'm not a fan of cricket, rugby or golf). So I do enjoy US sports, especially Ice Hockey and have been a big fan of the Calgary Flames for nearly 10 years (even got a jersey in Canada a few years back)! Fluery and Roberts are two names I will always associate with the team.
And for some reason I follow teams from the Carolina states (no idea why) but I do follow the Carolina Hurricanes (got a jersey also) since they have been around, also the Carolina Panthers American-football and Charlotte Hornets...until they moved

Gotta be extreme sports for me, I'm too much of a pussy to do much, but enjoy a skate now and then. All time mountain biking great - Steve Peat (UK)...world champion so many times over but has anyone ever heard his name? :P

Something I have always wanted to do (since it's been going anyway) is the Gumball 3000 Rally. I love watching it on tv when it comes around, but it would be too cool to actually be in the event.

Football, played with a ball and the foot.

Isn't it obvious? Changing the shape of the "Ball" makes it something you have to handle... the foot is used a lot less in all the other games that claim to be football.
