But rugby is sometimes called rugby football. I fully respect that many countries call it football, but I just wish that someone could respect other countries that call it SOCCER.

Why should we though, the game that the majority of the world called FOOTBALL (look I can use caps as well) was around long before your pussy rules or american rugby with pads.

Okay okay okay. We've got a new Premiership and SPL season on the horizon (not to mention Champions League/UEFA Cup) so I will resolve to start using the word football to describe the activities that occur in these or any other appropriate tournaments.

Invented in Rugby (at some posh school) when someone picked up a football (of the round variety) and ran off.

So I can sort see why the name stuck.

I wish I'd have been stoned when that happened, must have been hilarious....... "Look at that idiot..... what's he doing with the ball?" everyone must have been stood around wondering WTF he was doing!

It was great to be able to watch the testimonial match for my favourite ever Premiership player on UK Channel 5 on Saturday night. What a marvellous occasion it was (especially second half) with a star studded cast featuring

The man himself (of course), along with

Some old friends, and

A couple of older friends

Was a fantastic occasion and the first game to be played at the new Arsenal stadium (Emirates).

Dennis Bergkamp was a fantastic player and he will be missed in the Arsenal dressing room and in the English game as a whole.

i like playing golf, there are not many other sports that you can play when you are stoned or get stoned while playing. golf is wicked to play in the summer when the sun is out, you can sit in your cart drink a couple of stellas and smoke some green and play a round of golf too. only thing about golf is it is pretty expensive and you get a lot of posh dick heads playing. although watching golf on tv is pretty boring unless tiger woods is playing. best sport to watch is football, man utd in my case, there is no better team in the world and prob never will be. im not a glory supporter either like most man utd fans, i have a season ticket and go to every home game.

boner, american footballers wear pads cos the tackles they make are much harder and can be done in alot more ways than rugby which is USUALLY just around the legs

i used to agree with you before i started watchin american football some of them tackles are harsh!

Thats funny because a lot of people in the states think that soccer players are pussies for the dives they take and the way the carry on when they get breathed on while you have some football players playing games with broken bones and torn muscles.

Fave sport: UFC and Pride FC, no doubt there… Fave athletes: Currently Chuck Liddell, Light Heavyweight UFC Champ. But others are right up there, such as The Natural (den is prolly the only one who knows that this is Randy Couture)…

Now, I am Danish and have play both Football, American Football and Rugby, and let’s finish of the “which is toughest” once and for all, rugby is one tough sport, and very rugged, but it has nothing on American football if we are talking pain, shock and terror on the field. It is baffling how much power a linebacker or defensive end can hit you with, let alone being run over by a offensive line, and two backs…. That really blows big time, and hurts for freaking weeks, fuckers tend to step quite a lot on nasty places when they get the chance, and there aint no better chance then when your already on top of someone walking over them… The pads are used for blocking and tackling, i.e. they are only used for “protection” from a hit if you are quick, and smart, enough to “lower the shoulders” and take the hit, if your not, or if this causes you to hit him helmet-to-helmet, your are most times FUBAR. It would be nigh on impossible delivering such a massive hit as do the NFL and U.S. College players without the pads, I’ve seen guys go into practice and try to tackle without and end up being carried away for x-rays of their shoulders…

On the other hand, I think most of the guys watching Rugby in here has seen a pic or two of some nasty freaking hits none of us would crawl from, and perhaps also a pic or two of a guys being stepped in the face or other unpleasant places… IMO rugby is a more dirty and rugged sport, but American Football is by far the toughest.

Some fave's thru time: Schmeichel (Go great dane!), Bret Favre (Packers), John Lynch (a tackling god among mere mortals), Vitor Belfort (UFC fast-hands king), Gracie Family (UFC/Pride/MMA legends, founders of Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu), Randy (UFC), Chuck Liddell (UFC), Manning (the older, gawd that kid can play ball) and for all you fute-ball buffs out there: The Laudrup brothers (Michael and Brian).

Apart from this i also play cue sports like snooker, pool and billiards. D.Villa, Messi, Roneey, Kaka, Nani end many are my favorite players. When ever i go to any playstation, Shuffleboard Table is my first choice for playing.

Football is the only sport I watch. Well sometimes I watch Track and Field (athletics).

I follow the Bundesliga mostly and sometimes catch EPL and SPL.
Can't bear to watch one minute of golf, American football or baseball.
