UK Heat-wave

Post by Rez »

It's gettin' hot in here... wow-wee... just home from work and straight out of trousers and shirt and into me shorts, nothing else (apart from underwear)... no shirt, no socks... it's just so hot... I can't remember a summer as nice as this one we're having... I'm enjoying the heat-wave forecast for this week... it is horrid to work in this heat but it only happens once in a while so i'm lapping it up... it's like being abroad... beautiful.

Mondays Digital Temperature @ 1400hrs GMT - London UK

56.1 Deg C !!!!!! and in the shade it was 37Deg (sry no picture - my soles were burning and I had to run)

How hot is it where you are... and where are you ??

Damn that is hot!! I like shorts and t-shirt weather but as it is in south Kent right now, is hot enough for me 8) About 90-95 F and i'm hiding for the shade with lots of Dr Pepper and ice!

I'm off uni for the summer so have most days to enjoy the weather, although i'm just getting over an eye infection so had not much choice but sit around doing not much - life is so tough right now.

It's probably around 25 celsius here which is in the high 70's as far as fahrenheit goes which is about as good as it gets here. I see parts of southern England are going into the 30's

MMMMM.Love that stuff. My favourite non alcoholic fizzy drink.

Temperatures at the moment are way hotter than anywhere in Australia, but your summer is kind of our winter.

Here's a forecast page for Phoenix in Arizona, which is a bit of a hot spot for ACD members

and you think it's hot in the UK?

... I don't think it's broken but I did leave it out there for well over an hour and it had stabalised at 39.8deg C... The sensor is the tip which is metal... don't know if it got so hot so quickly that is sent the reading higher than the core temp once the transition of heat had taken place within the body of the sensor. *cough-cough* - just swallowed a dictionary :o anyway, 39.8 is hotter that I can remember... and just now in my kitchen/diner it was 31.2... Nice 8)

haha
mark....it would be unsafe if your body temp went up several degrees but just the outside temp being that high is ok. Trust me, i've lived in the desert for 15 years and often during the summer the avg temp is well above 100 F for a solid month or two. In fact i used to live in Lake Havasu City (where the 'London Bridge' is) and there is would be over 115 everyday of August and some of those days would see highs in the 120's....now that is fucking HOT.

I supposed you get used to the climate when that is your normal... I've never sweated so much as with this recent hot spell... but it is nice to sit in the garden tokin away with the sun gently grilling me...
