1 week of no tobacco........

Post by SkinAnother »

So, I have just hit the 1 week mark on my quest to give up the evil vice that is tobacco.

I have struggled on numerous occasions to cut out cigarettes and I thought I would share my experience with the 'electric cigarette'. This is the first time that I have hit the week mark with ZERO tobacco intake and I'm pretty sure it's down to this little device. Basically a cartridge with nicotine and water, popped into an atomiser which gives off a nicotine vapour when you take a drag. I am finding it very useful as I can still go out for a 'cigarette' break at work and I still have the social aspect of smoking, without all that nasty tar etc. Yes, I am still getting my nicotine fix but I will gradually go from a 'High' nicotine cartridge and progress down to no nicotine.

I am in no way saying this will work for everyone wanting to give up (just like patches, gum etc) but it has worked for me so far and I am enjoying my cigarette free lifestyle.

http://www.smartsmoker.co.uk is where I got mine from. After only a week, people may say it is too early to be recommending this but it honestly kills the craving and I have no urge to go and buy a pack of smokes. Oh, and I do not work for this company either

Just wanted to share my experience with you guys.

Best of luck to you, it's been about 8 years since I quit tobacco and I can honestly say it's the best thing I ever did, keep it going.

I have read that although Nicotine get you addicted faster than heroin, you are over the physical addiction within 48 hours. After that point it is purely in the mind.

Congrats SA!! April 15th will be 1 year without a cig for me. I had quit for 4 years about a decade ago, but made the mistake of going to a stag party & taking a drag off a buddies cig...that was the end of my 4 yr hiatus. I had always said I was "one away from a pack a day"; I knew if I had just one then I would end up going back to smoking a pack a day. For me, even after 10 months, the cravings are still there. Actually, during that 4yr period of not smoking, I remember craving the nicotine. In the end, it's a matter of will-power & continuing to fight the urge. Best of luck to you in your quest to leave the tabacco behind. Just as a side note...I've heard of 1 study that suggests the vapor cigs actually make it harder to quit; so just be cognizant of that potential issue. Whatever "works for you is my motto"...for me it was the "cold turkey" method.
Cheers,
KC
