First time 3-7th march

Post by The_b_team »

So next Thursday (3rd) me and 2 friends will be heading to Amsterdam for the 1st time, where staying at hotel flipper, not the best place but where only gunna be sleeping there, it's also not in the centre but I don't mind that as it's only a 10 min journy on the tram, I'll also be turning 20 while I'm over there :)

should I make a list of the coffee shops i want to visit? As i want to get the best bud and make the most of it? But I think my other 2 friends I'm going with would rarther go with no planned shops and just explore until they find a few they like

and also what are the shops to avoid? As I've seen the bulldog and grasshopper are a no go .

Sorry if these are stupid questians, I just want to make the most of my trip

Your best looking through travelogues and coffeeshop reviews to see where is good at the moment and what strains are good, I'd say you wanna atleast plan a few shops to visit, greenhouse/amnesia/grey I'd say you would want to visit plenty of others aswell bit I like these

Voyagers would be a good place to go when you get off the train, its right next to Central Coffeeshop near the station.

Grey Area, Green Place, Paradox are 3 shops thatm to have good bud. I think you stayin South of the city, so try the shops around De Pijp, Media, Katsu, D and L, and Yoyo are often mentioned on here

Have a good trip :-)
Excuse me while I light my Spliff.....

Welcome to the forum.

You have been posted on the March Whos In Town page.

You can see who else may be in town during your stay.

Watch for Toke & Talks, I post them up to the last minute.
Or post one of your own. All I need is a date, time, and coffeeshop to post it.

By default I link your posting to your profile page here on ACD.

https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/membe ... le&u=58300

I can change it to a web link ( myspace, facebook, personal page )
or an email address if you want.

You can do a little practice shopping on the Coffeeshop Menus page.
Any with arrows are less than six months old.

Keep your plans very loose. After the first shop they will disintegrate anyway.

First timers get my S G Collins recommendation
I think a read of this will maximize your efficiency once you get there.

How not to get hit by a bike and other stuff they forgot to tell you about Amsterdam.

Enjoy

Hope you enjoy your trip, weather doesn't look too good though acording to the forecast.

If I were you I'd do the opposite of making a list of must do shops, and instead make a list of shops to avoid. You can do this from reading the reviews etc. This is what I did. Then just breeze around trying various shops and settling on ones you do like, but having the foresight to avoid ones your mates may fancy - say Smokey's etc.

After several trips you'll settle on good stand bys that you can rely on - Liquid Swords mentions some top notch places* - and try the odd two or three new ones each time.

Cheers

*just wonder if all those will be attractive to a group of 20 year olds.. or maybe I'm just getting past my sell by date

I'm 26 and all those places sound attractive in terms of quality and consistency!!

Go to:
Amnesia
Barney's and Barney's lounge (Near Rembrandtplein)
Green Place
Green House
Grey Area
De Dampkring

Those are the quality popular (touristy but Good Cannabis) ones so get them out of the way and pick a base of operations until you find a more local place that caters to your personal style (IMO)

Stay Away ( again IMO)
Smokey's
Grasshopper
Double Reggae
Bulldog**

**I say this tongue in cheek because you have to go to the OG Bulldog in the RLD at least once. I mean it's sort of a landmark. Right? Not saying I visit it every time I go, but for a Virgin I think it's best to just go.
