What type of fish? Herring is a popular among the Dutch, there are several stands around town.

Nevy is great, go to their homepage and watch the video! It's great how they talk about the fish. They really seem to love their products. Not cheap but def. not too expensive for what you get! It's easy to reach by foot from Central Station. And you can sit outside next to the Ij on their huge terrace on a sunny day to have lunch.

In summer I do camping to safe money. By that I can spend more money in the best food and smoke available!

If you try Nevy don't trust the map on their homepage, google maps shows the real location, a bit more far out but the street is correct! I only had the scampies there but they were great.
If they did Dorade, not raw as they do, I would have tried that.

I actually like meat more than fish. but Nevy is a cool place.

I can vouch for Guachos on Damstraat. They have a decent fish soup and some great grilled salmon. http://www.gauchosgrill.nl/home/home.html
Kopke is the only seafood restaurant that comes to mind. Never been but after looking at the menu I need to. http://www.kopkeadega.nl/?language=english&page=home

Colina, that place sounds amazing, thanks for the idea. If you like Oysters, there is a stand with freshly opened ones at the Noordermarkt on Saturdays. :D :D Sadly, they are not allowed to sell wine with the oysters like is done in Brussels.

the one next to katsu is lovely! ask for kibbeling if you like smaler pieces or lekker bekje if you want a whole filet.
