Up to date info on Tobacco in Joints in Coffeeshops?
Hey all
Can't wait to get to the 'Dam next month for my third visit. I always smoke a joint with tobacco and am not keen at all to smoke pure grass joints as I plan to smoke quite alot over there and their stuff is way stronger then what I get back home.
Can't think of anymore of a buzz kill then getting my first few grams, sitting down, lighting up a phat one and being told to put it out! Goddamn that would piss me off. Or, even worse, asking at the counter if I can use tobacco and then forcing them to tell everyone in the coffeeshop that they are not allowed.
I've trawled around for the info but have gotten mixed messages back. So, what's the story? Am I pissing people off if I use tobacco? Particularly in Barneys, Grey Area, Rokerij and the other 'big ones'?
I can't be doing with any of that tobacco substitute stuff and what the hell would hash be without tobacco. Some places I see have separate smoking areas, sometimes with glass doors and some with floors away from the staff.
Dazed and Confused,

You can use a little to help it burn,But say no more than a 3rd of a cig & mix it good as some of the owners & staff can be funny buggers,Ive seen people use say a qtr of a cig in there weed joint! normally just smoke my joints pure unless i get some hash & then its the smokeroom in bluebirds/rookies or hill street,KD.

Try to go during summer so you can take advantage of the outdoor seating. Also, once you get outside the centrum, you'll find shops that cater more to locals than tourists and they'll usually have a smoking room(I'm thinking of 1e Hulp, the Loft, Carmona and others. Also, the Dolphins' basement allows tobacco smoking.) Just about every coffeeshop outside of Amsterdam will have separate smoking sections as well. And yeah, you can usually get away with adding a little bit of tobacco if you discretely ask the budtender.
Have you considered just rolling a smaller joint, though? I mean, it's your choice obviously, but it makes me cry a little bit to think of that delicious marijuana mixed with that nasty harsh tobacco. It's kind of like getting a glass of 30 year aged fine scotch and then mixing it with canal water.

Most coffeeshops either have a tobacco room or they just dont give a shit as long as you're discreet and dont have packets of ciggies on the table and such.

Not sure its even necessary to keep it discreet these days. I predict 2011 will be the last year of widespread smoking in Amsterdam and more and more bars say ''fuck it' and allow smoking all over.gixxer wrote:m8, i always smoke with tobacco and have never had a problem in a coffeeshop

Yeah they couldn't care less, I usually ask before (but I often forget because I'm high) and I never had a problem

I smoked tobacco in all the cs I went to last year - basjoe, rockerij, noon, grey area, ocean, bluebird, rusland and a few others I can't recall and never had a problem. Used to be you had to keep tobacco out of sight now it seems no one's bothered.

Hey,
Thanks for all the replies peeps. Seems like it still varies a bit depending on the place or who's working there on the day. I'll just keep it to a minimum and, if someone has a problem, just move on.
Jeez, seems like we're always skating on the edge of the law, eh?

Knock wood ... so far I have seen NO problem at ANY coffeeshop when smoking either mixed tobacco-cannabis joints, or conventional cigarettes.
