Haarlem or Alkmaar

Post by sylersky »

Going to the Dam in May but want to explore another city whilst in Netherlands.
Haarlem or Alkmaar?
Though I am from the UK, I support AZ Alkmaar and have done for about 10 years (long story) and have never been so that would make more sense but which is better for coffeeshops?
Anyone have any good recent reviews of shops in Alkmaar?
-Syler... :)

Alkmaar

Haarlem

If you go to Alkmaar, I could use some menu pix from there

Some new Haarlem menus wouldn't be bad either.

the trip to alkmaar costs about 13e return and the journey takes about 45 minutes ... the trip to haarlem costs about 7e return and the journey takes 15 minutes ... so going to alkmaar costs 6e more and total travelling time is 90 minutes instead of 30

the difference means that going to, say, birdy in haarlem gives you 6e more to spend and an hour more smoking time
