Font Size

Post by Lemming »

DC and others pointed out that phpBB3 uses smaller text by default than phpBB2 did. I've finally got around to looking into this and found a single entry in the stylesheet that I can tweak to control this.

Is it better now?

I agree, this does seem a little big.

I thought my eyes were screwing up...
I prefered the slightly large font myself but, you will never please all the people all the time....I'll just lean closer to the screen....    8)

Too small. I'll try later to-night.....straining to read and 150% mag is too large for the page.

For me it's looking like the screen is magnified to 125%. My system res is currently 1024x768 and every other site & board is fine. So I cant see why some are saying everything is to small because it all looks bigger for me.

But I can be a fussy bugger and prehaps got used to how it was before to easily :)

If you know about css then I can tell you that it started with "font-size: 62.5%", which the comment claims to be equivalent to 10px. I initially removed this altogether so it was 100% but that made it huge!

Next I tried setting it to 12px, which is how it was when I started this thread. It's now set to 11px. If I reduce it to 10px then we should be back where we started but it's possible that the percentage is not exactly the same as the fixed size on different browsers, resolutions, zooms or whatever.

Does having a wide screen monitor make a difference etc I wander. But this version of XP (on this boot setup anyways) is highly modified on my pc so I'd say thats just my setup both hardware and software :)

first you have the different operating systems, then monitors, then browsers, then people's ability to read text on a computer screen ... it is difficult to know what to do so that it is good everywhere for everyone

for me the phpBB2 size was ok, the initial phpBB3 size was small but for me still ok, the first big one was way too big, and now i think the current 11px is a good compromise ... it is not too big and not too small

But in thinking it is easier to read at this size compared to that slightly smaller txt that you get on other sites. Cant please everyone as simply put I'll be there is a good dozon or more screen sizes with different resolution settings :)
