Probably should not go there. Its very easy to criticize the French, but it often reveals more about those doing the criticizing that anything accurate about Frabce. It sure did when the French did not go along with the invasion of Iraq in 2003, which sent Bush, Cheney and the right-wingers in the US off their medications.Dava wrote:Marco wrote:Its always amusing when the Brits criticize the French.Mr Posh wrote:

Don't be forgetting Iran Air flight 655. The US never felt the need to apologise, even after persuading Gadaffi to make Libya apologise for the Lockerbie crash.Kermit wrote:TBH Twitch he had it comin, he was owed one for having that plane blown up over your country. You remember the one, on its way to America that he then gave the geezer who got locked up for it a heroes welcome home.
Jeez, just been reading up on the history of Libya and the Lockerbie tradgedy, after reading Ken Clarke's quote of "We do have a particular interest in the [region], which is Lockerbie."
f**k lying c**t. Turns out there's quite a bit of history before Lockerbie, and it has a lot to do with the yanks. Yes, Gadaffi is a crazy, terrorising mentalist (much like the US supported Saddam Hussain), but it probably didn't help that over a five year period, the yanks thought they were justified and "exercising their right" in having a large naval force including aircraft carrier(s), many "missile training exercises", and aerial intelligence gathering flights, all just 12 miles off the coast of Libya, well inside the Gulf of Sidra. Between 1981-1986, in disputed territorial waters just of the Libyan coast, they shot down two libyan fighters, sunk two radio ships, a naval patrol vessel and another Libyan boat, without a single loss to the yanks.
Oh, here's something you don't hear as much as Lockerbie... Iran Flight 655. Five months before Lockerbie, an American ship, inside the territorial waters of Iran, launched a guided missile at an Iran Air civilian airliner (airbus A300), killing all 290 on board, (the seventh most deadly airline disaster of all time). The yanks apparently thought it was an attacking F-14 Tomcat (one of their own planes???? wtf?). The United States has never admitted responsibility nor offered an apology, although they have paid $61M in compensation ($200,000 per killed passenger)."
