Dreaming...
Since I've been in China for nearly two weeks (Cannabis-less) and not smoking at all I find myself having some awesome dreams. Good quality dreams too; exciting and intense. I find myself waking up with less anxiety and worry. It's not that I don't dream at home, but when smoking constantly I only remember snippets and pieces. Here I am getting full episodes, sometimes building upon previous nights.
Does this happen to anyone else?
Alternatively, do you prefer NOT dreaming?
There's no way I'm going to stop smoking but I now envy those of you in parts of the world where you are forced to go without. Living in CA, there's NEVER a time when quality short term memory inhibitors are more than a phone call away...

What did you say?
Re: Dreaming...
in the same boat brotha! I have taken on and off breaks from smoking and im currently backpacking Europe so I dont have a steady supply of green. The dreams are Lucid to say the least and I can remember most! its fucking cool but at the same time im having trouble sleeping in and falling asleep, just gotta get used to not having bud! theres pros and cons to both sides but my my my I love the dreams you have when you have been clean, so detailed!

Re: Dreaming...
I only like to dream when I'm awake. When I'm sleepin I prefer it if my mind shuts down as much as it can so it can get a bit of time to recharge. If I don't smoke, which aint often, it feels like I'm awake all the time and that sucks. Running down the Damrak naked in the middle of a snowy afternoon while gettin chased by very large ducks...is not my idea of a good nights sleep.

Wow...you've had that same dream as well!!!!DC wrote:I only like to dream when I'm awake. When I'm sleepin I prefer it if my mind shuts down as much as it can so it can get a bit of time to recharge. I too have had some very strange dreams as well
I've also read that you only use 30% of your brain whilst awake,....but the other 70% kicks in when you sleep while your wakin' brain has a rest
I'll just have to take every opportunity to smoke what good stuff i can, to try and come up with the answer!!
...it's a dirty job, but someone's got to do it...

Re: Dreaming...
i quit smoking for half of 2009. i had a hard time sleeping. what started as insomnia before i knew it wasn't falling asleep till 6-7 am and waking up at 5 pm. i had a crazy ass dream the other night after a heavy session smoking cheese.generally i feel weed helps my sleep and keeps my sleep schedule at my normal 1-2 am-9-10 am schedule.
educating myself and waiting for the next trip.

Re: Dreaming...
i always dream...smoke or not...although if it's a heavy indica...i'll just sleep and not even move! i do, however, remember them much better with no weed...agreed with YourGuru: "Living in CA, there's NEVER a time when quality short term memory inhibitors are more than a phone call away..."
i'm a good sleeper...but i'm an "early to bed, early to rise" person...i am up by 4am...and i get 7-8 hours of sleep...do the math...
i stay up late only if i'm in amsterdam...or on the east coast of the U.S. ...or if i'm out dancing...or some other extra-curricular activity...
@DC: i spit my coffee out when i read your dream...thanks...!

Re: Dreaming...
That's me, a night person instead of the day. i love the quietness and the fact that many people are asleep whilst i'm havin' fun!!! (This is of course if i have something to smoke!!) It becomes difficult when i'm in "Amsterdam" as the 'tokin' buddie is an early bird, Years of workin' in the wrong sort of 'Baking' industry!!! and with the smokeables in the 'Dam' bein' so much better than anythin' available locally here, for the vast part of the time, i find it very difficult to drag myself out of my bed and see more than i should of the city and beyond.(Or at least coffeeshops!!)
Love watchin' the dawn, as the sun rises to wish me goodnight!!!
Anyone have any dreams that included anyone famous?
My pal who doesn't smoke had a dream he had an interview for a job and there was only two people goin' for it. Himself and "Captain Kirk" from "Star trek". He got woke up before he found out if the job as a fireman at an 'open air fire station'?!? was his

Re: Dreaming...
In my experience, vivid, intense dreams that I remember in clarity when I awake have not been related to a cannabis fast. Instead, they seem to be the result of some critical issue or stress in my life. Writing the dreams down has helped me remember, reflect and understand the symbology in the dream.YourGuru wrote:Since I've been in China for nearly two weeks (Cannabis-less) and not smoking at all I find myself having some awesome dreams. Re: Dreaming...
There's a lot of truth in what you said "ed the head", as at the time my pal had the dream with "Captain Kirk"
, we were all on 'the bru', (Unemployed!!
) and "Margaret, hell'll not be full til' she's in it, Thatcher" had ensured the unemployed and marginalised had risen to 5 million, when the figures were calculated in a manner that wasn't down right wrong.
So after many disappointments, it really isn't surprisin' that my pal started dreamin' the impossible. Gettin' a job.
As you said, keepin' a diary, or should that be dairy?
, is a very useful tool!!(Both
)
It can tell you so much in retrospect about times in your life, that could prove invaluable when needed most....although, that said, i don't keep one myself.
There's always the idea that someone will read your inner most thoughts...if you're brave enough to put them to paper
should it be discovered....possibly after you die
....but hell, the dead have no ears.....
A girl i briefly worked with, kept a diary religiously since she was small. Boy, i'd have loved to have read that one.....
Very quiet demure girl.....til' that 3rd vodka and coke hit the back of the net
....it could get very crazy in many different ways.....best not to read that....you might not remember it as favourably as she did

I have a friend who when in a drunken sleep is impossible to wake....you could pick him up and carry him to a totally different place, strip him and sit him in a deck chair!! Wouldn't even register a dent in the snorin'
But in the same condition, we've had back and forward conversations with him (that made some sense!!) and seen him move around performing tasks in his imagination, as well as demolishing a drum kit!! at 3am, when the house full of people were all sound asleep
I've always been fascinated by the brain and it's workings. I have a brilliant book "The Human Mind" by Dr "Robert Winston" which is excellent, if a little tricky at times, reading.
Having worked with people who have Epilepsy, i saw similarities between pre and post seizure activity, that i've also seen in my 'drunken friend'
....and quite a few stoners as well..........
