Loria has turned the firesale into a cottage industry. Jays still have lots of questions tobe answered and need big season from Bautista. Love the pitching staff now. The clock is def ticking on Staton now, hes so pissed lolcantona7 wrote:gotta love south florida fire sales. nice pickups man. josh johnson is a beast. hope they trade giancarlo to the mariners!TwoCanucks wrote:Its going to be fun to be a Blue Jay fan again...been soooooooooooooo long the hard times. i think this deal being good hinges on weather you sign josh johnson to a contract extension. he will demand probably close to 100 mill. hes got one year left on his current deal. he is a future cy young candidate and until yesterday was the marlins most prized pitcher. if you guys don't resign him though this deal was pretty much a rent -a - player deal for johnson that focuses on jose reyes. jose reyes is good when hes healthy and playing at his best level. but weather you get that reyes all depends. buerle is good but for the blue jays definetly a 3rd starter behind johnson and romero.TwoCanucks wrote:Loria has turned the firesale into a cottage industry. The good news is, Rogers looks like they will spend the money sonce the AL East is wide open now. Rogers is about the same size as $$$wise as Comcast.

Re: Baseball megathread 2012 and beyond
well as usual rumors prior to the winter meetings as well as comments by the ownership said we would make a run at hamilton or trades for billy butler, upton, etc.
with josh hamilton signing with Anaheim and the Astros coming to the AL west i have to say with the current ownership,gm and front office the mariners are doomed to be celler dwellers for a long time. the stros even seem to have goals. I really believe the mariners are the worst run team in mlb. you have a Japanese owner whos never been to Seattle, howard lincoln and chuck armstrong who are only worried abot turning a profit. none of this would make me mad had they not threatened to leave town 17 years ago if we refused to build a new publicly funded stadium. maybe had we let them move we would have a real club right now. they waste like 10 mil building a new restaurant and bringing in the fences and another 15 mill on a giant fucking scoreboard? why so we can watch our team lose in hd while we watch them lose live? and the fences? why..we have no power..this will only help the away teams. Every year in October and November they say they have $ to spend and that we are in it for the big players. Then as usual they sit at the winter meetings..sign a few old FORMER stars and miss out on the best ones. then they say oh well sorry the market was bad and they were out of our price range. $5 says their responce to all this is probably LOWERING the salary and trading more talent for garbage. The fans here don't help either. maybe if they stopped buying tickets the team would realise they need to put a good product on the field but no, enough fans show up to turn them a profit. Really makes me mad. Sports teams shouldn't be used SOLELY to make a profit. It's not fair to the real fans. *rant over*
i guess michael bourne and nick swisher are still out there. someone will get them though...probably texas...ugh.
