Anybody heard of TOR? and how safe is it?

Post by hulldj »

I was looking around on the net and came upon this..

http://www.torproject.org/

I normally vpn out using a proxy server if downloading using newsgroups to bypass my isp "bandwidth shaping" but this sounds interesting for anonymous surfing.

Has anyone used or heard of TOR?

Nice link there Boner. cheers.

Its just not quite what I was thinking TOR does. . Using that link, when I search for coffeeshop. I can find ACD but when I click the link you are taken out of ssl and linked over to the ACD site. This is then not anonymous. The search is but not the result.

I guess it is a great workaround if your employers block certain sites.

The reason I am posting the question is because I use newzbin.com regularly and they have just set up TOR for searches.

So back out there, any ideas folks?
