Well wandering to ask as the local family menber who thinks or believe all that he's told to be true is true simply becaue someone from Holland has told him is true.

But can someone clarify the situation as I think to be 99.999% true. That using a standard tv aerial not a single person in Holland can ever receice BBC1?.

Mmm not to sure I know you do get BBC1 in Holland just on normal tvs in hotels so I imagine it is just the co-axial cable !?

Yes - it is true. In Netherlands it is possible to pick up the analogue BBC signal.
As it is also in Ireland, Belgium, Luxembourg and France...

remember watching the fa cup final in a hotel room on bbc1 one year, not sure if that was just of a normal aerial, couldn't get bbc when I stayed in uitdam though
