If you take the time to explore outside the city center, there are plenty of savings to be had. Grabbing food from Albert Heijn will save some money but remember you just can't pop back into the campground for a snack. I've done Amsterdam in 60 euro a day, so you should be fine.

You should totally be able to make it work- just eat your meals out of the grocery store (A roll, some cheese, some fruit, a drink.) Carry a backpack so that you can keep food on you, eat on benches in between shops.
Also, I'd recommend getting out of the centrum and picking up some less expensive weeds so that you don't have to sacrifice quality or quantity. (Might be a good time for an early walk & fly and buy at Bij/Boerenjongens, some of the deeper de pijp shops, etc.) Then just hit centrum shops for a gram and a drink.

Some great advice.
I would add that you could also go to the open air markets for food and drink, could save a few Euros. Also if you buy a resealable drinking container, save and reuse it. Amsterdam tap water isn't that bad, but more importantly - it's free. Free drinking water versus spending money on bottled water or other types of beverages, do the math.
To paraphrase GM, find shops that offer quality gear at lower prices, which means getting out of the centrum. There are plenty of recent trip reports to chose from, and I HIGHLY recommend reading geekymonkey's (GM) latest, what a fantastic report.
Good luck and have a high time.
Happy skimping, or not...

It shouldn't be hard since you are camping which is out the Centrum. You could always use Google Maps and print out some directions. That's what I do still when I travel to a new part of town.

Do you stay at Vliegenbos or at Zeeburg?
If you stay at Vliegenbos get a chipcard, the bus takes only 9min from centraal station and departs every 10min! City-Campside-City is done in 30min if you have to get a jacket f.e..
Get drinks and food at AH, get the big bottles and decant in a small bottle to carry with you during the day. If you stay at Zeeburg there is a bigger AH opposite the Texaco gas station on the way from and back to the city! Go to the windmill over the bridge (brewery of the Ij). At the next crossing you can see the gas station left hand on the other side of the street, the AH is 15m left! Go to
http://www.ah.nl/albertheijn/winkelinformatie to check their locations, AH is your friend if you're on a low budget.

Buy your papers, grinder, lights, and other gear at home and bring with... saves $$$ for sure.
Bread, peanut butter, jam, cereal, milk, case of bottled water, 2litres pop at your campsite and pack some sandwiches and snacks to carry for your day away.
Once a day hit the mac'd or burger king or kfc for a solid injection of fat and constitutional adjustment food.
Enjoy.

i admit i love the blow out weekend trips to the dam, but a tighter budget really can be a good thing.
I spent a good while travelling about on a really tight budget, and i really believe it was the best way to do it. Limited funds force u to seek out the free things, which you may miss out otherwise. Everyone goes and gets pissed in a town centre bar in the evenin, but a well selected spliff, couple of nice dutch beers from thr supermarket, and a nice spot by a quiet canal, that sounds good to me.
