Motorcycle road (as in public) racing
Motorcycle road (as in public) racing
Just wondered as for the last few years the BBC have done the Northwest 200 on the red button & website
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/norther ... efault.stm
& ITV4 have covered the Isle of Man TT
Anyone else on here in to watching these lunatics with balls of steel doing some real MR's racing?
The roads are a bit damp this morning but should be fun

Re: Motorcycle road (as in public) racing
I've had the pleasure of being at the TT for the last five years. There's been a lot of speculation about it's future, with riders and visitors killed EVERY year. The Manx government stopped all of the entertainment on Douglas prom a couple of years ago. No stunt shows at the beer tent and no funfair, it was dismal. We hardly noticed that TT had come and gone. Compared to the 2007 centenary the contrast was startling. The Manx Minster of Tourism had to resign over it. Last year was much better although still no stunt shows on the prom (although there were nightly wet t shirt competitions).
I'm in Madrid at the minute, Barcelona on Monday and then when I go home TT begins. Good times. Oh then I turn 30. Then Amsterdam at the end of June. Better times.

I still remember trying to follow the TT on teletext with MCN on the Wednesdays
I have only made it to the TT once for the Senior in 89 the year Joey Dunlop couldn't ride the factory Honda
So I never got to see him race, But Steve Hislop got his bike that week so I did get to see one of the greats just as he was hitting his best
As for the safety rubbish, nobody makes anyone ride any of the roads, they do it for the love of it
As for spectators Motorsport is dangerous it says so on the back of the ticket
Ok I know the Northwest & TT don't have tickets but the same applies, if you want to see a race like no other
from closer than you can believe, you accept it will be at least messy & very painful if something goes wrong or worse

One of my travel dreams is to put a gorgeous girl on the back of a new Honda VFR and head to the Ilse of Man. Used to own a VFR.....roads are too flat here, but a nice bike is def. in my future again.

We have the bonus of no speed limit in areas too. The drive over the mountain is a lot of fun. Very picturesque, especially driving/riding the course in reverse for the descent in to Ramsey.

what a fucking shite day, worst NW200 in history
pissed down all day, only the 600 race was run, and a fucking bomb scare in the paddock area
congrats to colin seeley on his win, pity he,ll have to wait another year to equal McCallens record

after the bomb scare when they did start the suberbike race only for Ryan Farquhar's bike to dump it's oil on track
But they did do their best to try to get it going again, even to the point you had Guy martin with a pressure washer
& the technical director / clerk of the course with a brush trying to clear the oil
I feel sorry for everyone there from spectators to riders to the organisers

This country is too flat for a bike like that (-:YourGuru wrote:+1 to Bones... Not my Bike

Sounds like somebody loves me... And I will be getting a 696 for around town Opa. I never claimed the bike was my own.
A 08'/09' 696 will do fine around the ring.Marco wrote: This country is too flat for a bike like that (-:
