Wanted. "Technology Wizard"!!

Post by artymac »

First. I have to come clean here and say that your granny with probably know more about the world of technology, or be a better pupil than me!! (The whole gadgit/technology thing just ran away from me, although i love the thought of accessing the endless potential of this , it is now all soundbites and garbled noises that intimidate, frustrate and makes me smoke more to make it all go away)
So when it comes to advice like, ...."All you have to do is reformat your cylinder head gibblet and and create a hairy canary aspect, by downloading a ........." ...think of my health, ...there's only so much 'top boot' a man should smoke..

With thanks in advance , here's my little problem that will probably be the easiest question put on test paper.!!!

I own a "Samsung" M8800 mobile.(which i am failing miserable at trying to master all its probably not so ingenious tricks!!)
My lap top is an "Acer" 'Aspire' 5332. (Windows 7) ('Minesweeper' and scurrilous internet sites!   )
I recorded using the camera on the phone and want to use "Cool Pro Edit" which a friend put on my lap top so i can try and adjust the noise levels ,(is this possible?, or should i be looking at better options?) as the background noise at times drowns out my sisters drunken singing!!!
I also have the "Samsung" 'new PC studio' on the lap top which allowed me to send info back and forth between my phone and PC.
When i try and save this to 'desk top' directly from the phone, (showing off now!!) the video will play but without sound!!
However, if i use the 'new PC studio' and send the video (mp4 :!: ) direct from my phone it plays as it should, but i can't move this to the lap top or i loose sound again!!!
My main problem however, if someone can assist me, is trying to get the dam thing to work on "Cool Pro Edit"
I drag the icon of the version with sound on to 'CPE' it appears to know something is there, but all i get is a wall of static that lasts for approx 7 minutes when my recording lasted an hour. (Those girls sure can sing when the wine and the vodka wins!!)
I've put the video onto a disc, (Well i looked over my pals shoulder whilst he did it) which also had sound but still wouldn't make any difference to 'CPE', just the same 7 minutes of static.

Any ideas???? Save a man from the 'top boot'.    8) 8)

Best to drag and drop any video files onto your PC and convert the file to one that can be read by the video editing software. I personally use Sony Vegas HD Platinum to do my video editing (brilliant piece of software) however, the video files that come off my Panasonic camera can't be read by Sony Vegas, so it needs to be converted into an MP4 file so that it can be edited.

The free download software I personally use to convert video files into absolutely any format is.....
SUPER © Simplified Universal Player Encoder & Renderer

Here's a screen shot of SUPER software to convert any video file into any format. I don't know anything about Cool Edit Pro, but it could be out of date software and not compatible with todays latest files. I'm really not sure without being in front of your screen and seeing what's occuring.

"Trance" thanks very much for that reply which has given me several new directions to try and solve my little problem!!!(or at least gives me some more technical talk to throw about when the more computer savvy friends get enlisted, ...you can only say, "could it be something to do with the drivers?", so many times!!)

You've laid it out nice and simply and after reading your reply several times!! ...i'll have a go at this now, ...and call in reinforcements if needed later!!

Lovely part of the UK you're living in "Trance", take the rest of the week off for your efforts!!
Thanks again. 8) 8) 8)

"Dava" you don't know the half of it!!!
Saw your photo on another thread and you're young enough that computers and such was a recognised important part of the curriculum and provided for ....whether all the students choose to take up this is down to them!!!
I remember when some of the girls in my year won a national competition, this was about 1980   ...and the prize was a computer, to be presented by Maggie Thatcher.
Not fucking one of them took a swing at her....fuck me....and that computer was put in a little locked room in the library, it did have a window so you could see it ...and the heads of departments who had a key to go in and play backgammon.
It did in time get to be used by some of the pupils,...mostly the 'clean team', but for the rest of the 'great unwashed', the first time i ever sat before a computer was a "ZX81", which my pal built as he was at college.
What an incrediblely disappointing moment that was and i doubt the 'glittering prize', had i sat before that, would have sent shivers down my spine either.....unlike some of the girls that won the thing in the first place!!

Even remember when in the interests of providing a complete education, all the girls had a few weeks of woodwork/metalwork etc while the boys became cooks and secretaries.
Whilst messing around like everybody else, i thought,...this typing thing could prove very useful in the future..., but it would have been suicide to have said so at this time, you should have seen some of the people that i was in school with!!  I'd probably have got the same treatment had i brought them bagpipes into school and tried to play them.   That's why it takes me a lot longer than i'd like to type responses    But as they say, "Practice makes perfect."!

"WileyKat" thanks for that other option as well, i'll give it a try. ....you do realise that it's part of the ACD's rules that you have to celebrate your 100th. post by smoking a joint..... it's a dirty job, but someone's got to do it.

p.s. Still laughing "Dava"
