LCD Lights

Post by loch ness monster »

I posted about a month ago about using LCD lights to grow and said I'd update, can't find the thread so doing it here - ya.

Well I bought the 120 watt mixed Red and Blue. From China, very good quality, great price (I don't really want to peddle chinese companies that sell top quality lights - so pls DIY - unless you have a must to know ya), and arrived in a week. bah the place is called amonster. Though do search because you may find a better deal than me. And the one's I have are always majority red and blue - some you can switch between the two and orange.

Anyway - for the love of god don't turn them on and stare into them to check if they work - if you must, wear sunglasses, I almost blinded myself.

Well, do they make marijuana grow - The answer is yes.

Over the moon with the electric bill - cheap, the investment is worth it. 85,000 hours of usage.

A helicopter flew over a few days ago - made me smile because the heat off these things is on the down low. Mine have internals fans mind you. But as I said you can get some that come in the shape of your pets, aliens, ribbed, musical ones etc. so do give an effort in a search - or what.

maybe I could have just turned the light bulb on though.

if you're not in a hurry just do this

PH
Air
Drainage
Water

one thing : don't be inventive, hanging furry things from the bitch you met last year aint fantastic. or socks basically don't decorate because of mites. If that happens. Just think ffs.

I've been thinking of getting a LED (not lcd) panel for my veg side, still not convinced about them though.

You'll be better off this being the grow section: https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=15

I'll see if I can move the thread there if not I'll ask Lemming to do it.

Edit: Moved.

I'm still dithering. Would I be right in thinking I could use a much less powerful fan' just enough to maintain a healthy air flow? I dont get freaked about these things but during the winter snow on my shed roof right above my growbox, a nice big bald patch.. I'm useing a 250w HPS which for me at the moment is cool, and uncomplicated, what LED wattage do you think would replace that.
Keep these reports coming, I'm nearly there :D, it's all a work in progress.
What a long strange trip it is.

I am thinking of setting up a grow area in my home (small, 4-8 plants) and have been looking at this LED light..... http://bcledlights.com/index.php?main_p ... cts_id=103

Have any of you used this type of light? The companys sell sounds great and the power and heat reductions are just what I require.
If I don't see you no more in this world, I'll meet you on the next one.

Just something to note with all these type cold run panels is getting the environment right.

Whilst most are trying to keep the temps down with the HPS's, with these type panels you will be fighting to keep the temps up. Especially in winter.

Insulating the roof of the shed will help and insulating the box you have inside the shed. Venting the out to the bottom of the shed somewhere not seen will also reduce the amount of heat melting the snow on the roof. Then you just got to worry about the cold damp fusty air from the shed venting into your box... Enjoy the challange.

My friend finished a grow a few weeks ago, he had a 250 over one plant and the led over the other, as some sort of test and the results were wicked, they deffo work but he didn't have the balls to just use led.

As for the blinding thing, I made that Mistake lol everything was green and was not nice haha

@Trad, I found this to be the most coherent info/reviews that I read on LED's. http://www.myhydroponicgardening.com/20 ... ht-review/

I did finally bite the bullet and bought one of these, http://www.growlightsled.co.uk/90w-ufo- ... 4QodjhEgOA but due to circumstances I wont be deploying it until the end of October.

My last light grow with the 250w HPS was a 60 day auto (automaria II), so I will start off with the same and report how it gets on. Re the temp difference, my current fan is quite powerful, for the space, OK for a hot HPS but I have a lightweight bathroom window fan I can experiment with, or maybe even a couple of computer fans.

A question. I dont think the LED will penetrate as well, should I supplement it with a couple of small flourescent tubes for the lower growth, and are ordinary flo' lights the right ones?

So this is 90w to replace 250w HPS, and I got the tri-band as reccommended.
What a long strange trip it is.
