Coffeeshop where I can stay for many hours?

Post by 5iver »

Hi all, first time poster. Spent a week in Amsterdam about 1.5 years ago with friends, but was mainly toking in our hotel rooms. I basically (purposely) have a lay-over in Amsterdam on June 24th from 6am until 10pm. I am meant to meet a friend until lunch, but after that I am all alone. Can anybody recommend to me a coffee shop where I can basically stay there for 3-4 hours, work on my laptop (internet not a prerequisite, but allowing me to use my laptop and having a power plug so I can recharge it as well) and eat as well?

I want to be able to chill in a coffee shop hassle free, get high, work on my PC, and have good snacks/meals available to me, where the staff won't mind my presence there for 3-4 hours. I don't remember many names from my time there, just the big ones (Grasshoppers, Bulldog etc.) but I don't think they fit the profile of what I am looking for.

Voyager seems pretty good from the sounds of members' impressions, but all suggestions are welcome!!

Using the search function is always a wise idea, however the link you sent does not answer his question(s) entirely, see bold text.

Hi all, thanks for your replies so far. I did indeed see the aforementioned thread, but as the other poster kindly mentioned, I am looking for somewhere where I can sit down and use my laptop to help the time pass, not so much sit and converse with other stoners (though this would be a welcome distraction). And somewhere that serves food as well, as if I recall, a lot of the coffee shops only have drinks, or the most basic of snacks.

Paradox may work but I'm not sure about you plugging up your laptop. From my experience most businesses in Amsterdam don't let you just plug in. I have seen several people get yelled at for doing it without asking. Here is a thread for hotspots around the A'dam. https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12267

as far as i know, coffeeshops are not allowed to serve anything but (nonalcoholic) drinks and snacks. so no proper food in a coffee shop.

Some places serve Tostis, but I never saw any substantial food in coffeeshops

I think the newer Greenhouse serves food, burgers and such. Barney's, is it Uptown? I can't keep track of all the Barney's "outlets." Paradox is known for their veggie burgers and shakes. Maybe this will help.

Not true, Greenhouse & Paradox for instance serve quite a bit of food. There are more but I can't be arsed to figure them out now.

If you're hanging somewhere for a while and making purchases, just ask the BT nicely if they'll let you charge up your computer for a little...worth a shot at least.

you could probably do this at Greenhouse on Harleemstraat, I have posted up there before for an hour or two with my laptop and they have wi-fi permitted you purchase some buds and a drink.

down stairs in dolphins is a good a place as any to pass a couple of hours

a) your out of view of the staff, so can plot up for a bit without getting eyeballed.
b) its veeeery comfy in thoose sofa booths. take your shoes off, recline and try not to fall asleep.

its definatly coffeeshop etiquette(sp?) to pay for your stay with a drink or something. so keep in mind you'll need to buy a few drinks to stay for a while.

if its a sunny (or even just dry day) then spending most of your afternoon tucked away in one of the many beautifull parks is surely a much better idea than in a coffeeshop. a bag of kush, a bottle of amstel and a nice spot by some trees. beautifull. no internet true, but who needs internet when you got nature.
